Title: from Entropy B server, Crash without message.
Post by: benjad on January 20, 2013, 12:22:27 AM
game file: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B0gdCwqnX_TbRTlVb2JpSDNCWUU/edit

About 30 seconds after loading, crashes, without any error message.  Tried -debug , nothing in the output to work from.   Game is on hte Entropy B server, PAK128.

Any ideas?

Happening to me too, crashes both server and client and the local savegame causes a crash too.

However, I can load the game just fine in nightly r5288. I loaded it in 5288 and then changed the savegame revision backward to make it compatible with 112.1 again. Here's the fixed .sve: http://simutrans-germany.com/files/upload/b-128_crash_fixed.zip (http://simutrans-germany.com/files/upload/b-128_crash_fixed.zip). (passwords are gone, however!)

Unclear exactly why this fixes the problem... has something been fixed in the nightlies?

5288?

It has been fixed in the meanwhile.

As a workaround, one can disable pedestrians (in the display-options dialog). To do this: pause the game after load (press 'p' during loading), then toggle pedestrians off. The chance of this crash to reappear should be reduced (still not zero).

Thanks, Dwachs, seems to work, here's a fixed version of the .sve with pedestrians turned off. I assume this should keep the server from crashing as well as the client?

It only reduces the chances of a crash. The crash happens when to many objects are on one tile. Thus, it could also happen if there are a lot of ships queuing at a harbor.

Ships will not enter a tile with too many objects. Thus it should not appear (with ships), but ships may get stuck then en route.

There was a bug (introduced in 6143, fixed in 6226, present in 112.1), which set capacity in dingliste to zero if old capacity was 252.

Ups, thanks for fixing.
