Title: getting workers to fishery?
Post by: richardk on June 07, 2014, 12:43:48 PM
How do I get workers to a fishery? I've got a ferry stopping at the fishery, but there's still no route for passengers listed under details, and no passengers appear. Any ideas what I need to do?

I'm running the nightly r7240 & pak.britian.
thanks
Richard

It is possible that the fishery stop does not accept passengers (it has no loading facilities for them). It may be a bug with the packset.

You could always expand the stop using the public service provider player to include a passenger stop underground that gives the stop access to passengers.

That sounds like a clever hack  :)  I'll give it a try.
thanks

You need to take a look on two things:

1. if fishery wants people for enhancing of production - represented by symbol in upper part of dialog; may be not needed
2. if people are available - if people live near (in near town); there is a list of towns where workers live, below list of factories to which you only may transport fish

The way I understood this senario is that no1 you need to place a bus stop, tram, airport, postal or train stop nearby to generate the necessary amount of passengers, goods or postal service.

I don't follow what you are trying to explain. In any case, stops are not needed to generate passengers, goods or post. Passengers, and I believe also mail, are always generated. What stops do is just allow you to collect them and deliver them where they want to go. It is therefore also possible to see where potential passengers are and where they want to go, before actually building anything This is done primarily through the town hall information window, in combination with the minimap.

Then the next question, you need an active industry to generate passengers?

Only some passengers have anything to do with industries at all. As for whether industries are more attractive passenger destinations when doing something, I'm not quite sure, but feel it would be somewhat uncharacteristic for Simutrans Standard if they did. Industries do however (potentially) become more active because they get passengers (and mail and electricity, potentially).
