Title: Somewhere to post large zip file for download?
Post by: The Hood on February 07, 2009, 01:14:10 PM
I'm looking for somewhere to stick a large (11Mb) zip file containing all files needed to play the latest pakBritain.  Can anyone point me in the right direction or offer to host it?  Thanks

If it's all open, why not use sourceforge?

@jamespetts
Thankyou - but how do I request a password?

@VS
prissi isn't keen on this, if I understood him correctly

The Hood,

I don't think that you need to request one - just type in an arbitrary username and password, and you can upload. You will need the same username/password combination to delete.

Incidentally, if you want somewhere to post the sources, consider Github (https://github.com/).

Doesn't seem to work, I typed in a username and password, pressed upload, waited 10 minutes for "sending request..." and at the end - nothing!

Hmm - that site can be slow for large files sometimes...

Why not using the sourceforge release system? I was not keen on pak-Files in the SVN, because the SVN is for the SOURCES. But for releases there is the sf-release system. You should be able to make releases, if I did not messed up your account settigns. Feel free to aks.

Ask you?  or ask sourceforge?  This would be handy when I get round to doing a full release.  For now, I'm happy for sources on sourceforge and a zip of the paks on files.simutrans-germany.com as it was only a temporary release.

Mantra of open source. Release often. They say so on sourceforge. Thus sourceforge is exactly the right place imho.
