I have split this as this appears to be a different issue.

Kittens - as with your previous bug report, if you mean that this occurs invariably every time that you start a game, this does not happen to me, so I cannot reproduce this. Can you give more detail as to your setup and the executable that you are using  so that I can try to discern why you are getting this error?

verson Simutrans-Experimental_160825_9d192e7 and it crashes before choosing packset

I had something like that come up and found this in another post which fixed it for me.

Note: If you get an error with loadsave_t::start_tag(), delete or rename your Simutrans folder in My Documents.

Have you tried deleting settings-experimental.xml in your Simutrans folder?
