Title: Building Bridges
Post by: Vladki on January 30, 2017, 11:12:11 PM
Hello,

I have noticed unconsistent behavior when building bridges as normal or public player.
I wanted a bridge with gentle slopes, so I built a half-height ramp and a half-height "box" on both sides, and then dragged a bridge between the "boxes". As a human player it built a bridge with half-haight ramps, so the total height of bridge was 2 (full-height). However when I did exactly the same as public player - an elevated road was built instead, with only hal-height clearance above the track. I have clearance = 2 in simuconf.tab. More over, the tool used to build it was "concrete bridge (115 km/h, 70 t), but when I inspect it after building it is "concrete viaduct elevated road (100 km/h, 70 t) - even the ramps are "elevated road"...

Further on - I cannot build bridge or elevated road over "platform with building", only over a "plain" platform.

Thank you for the report. I have just pushed a possible fix for this issue; would you be able to re-test? Thank you.

OK, the height of the bridge is now OK. But the bridge is built as some weird sort of combination of bridge and elevated road.

Old bridges tel in their ifno windows stuff like: "Concrete beam bridge" + "Hot rolled asphalt road"
But now it has: concrete beam bridge + concrete viaduct elevated road. And the graphics are a combination of both. It really does not matter which bridge I try to build. It even makes a one tile of elevated road on the ends, which is not elevated (pillars are underground)...

Examples can be seen at server.exp.simutrans.com:13353 around position 119,9

And also the issue with elevated road avoiding platfom with building is still there - I'm not sure if that might be intentional (3rd screenshot in the first post)

Noticed it too. Apparently the "build with last used way" feature doesn't exclude elevated ways.

That looks as though it might be using an elevated road type as the road type over the bridge. Can I ask - does this occur when the last road type that you have built (or selected from the menu) is an elevated road, and does this problem abate when you select a normal road type from the menu before building the bridge?

So it's determined by clicking in the toolbar? That might be a little problematic as the concrete viaduct elevated road is next to the concrete bridge in the toolbar and they use the same icon, meaning misclicks are rather common.

Yes, I confirm - bridge building always uses the last road type, including elevated roads.

I think that I have now fixed this - would you be able to re-test?
