Title: ST 120.4 contains no binary
Post by: NNW on May 11, 2019, 07:48:15 AM
I want to install the latest Version on Linux Mint. But the 120.4 package contains no binary (only the program folders - nice joke) and I don't know what to "fill in" in the config.default in the src package.
The Mint Repo contains only the 120.2.2 Version. Can anyone help me to get this running?

Are the downloaders all bots?

what are they doing with the empty folders?  ;D

Problem solved. Downloaded the *zip File, the Executable from the Nightly and the LibPng12 Package from Ubuntu. Works fine. Have found this thread: https://forum.simutrans.com/index.php/topic,18538.0.html
Yes. This is the easiest way for a common user to install ST under Linux...... :o

The DEB Package from Wurzelgnom (eb https://simutrans-germany.com/simutrans/linux-package/deb/debian lenny contrib ) don't work because Synaptic can't find something that  it calls "Release File" List ???

O my goodness, why easy when you can also make it complicated?

Hi Barry, welcome to the International Simutrans Forums! Do you want to run the game under Windows or Linux? I can help with the former, but not the latter.

Free translation from this: https://simutrans-germany.com/wiki/wiki/de_Simutrans_repo_deb

1.) After starting Synaptic, select Additional Package Sources from the Settings menu.
2.) In the new window click on "Add" (right bottom)
3.) Another Window opens: Copy this deb https://simutrans-germany.com/simutrans/linux-package/deb/debian lenny contrib #Simutrans Universalrepo into it and confirm this.
If the addition was successful, the following entry should have been added: Simutrans Universalrepo lenny
4.)The public key must be saved locally before it can be imported. It is important to right-click on the following link => https://simutrans-germany.com/simutrans/linux-package/deb/PublicKey (https://simutrans-germany.com/simutrans/linux-package/deb/PublicKey). Select Save Linked Content from the menu... / Save target as... or ~. This is the only way to save the key file unchanged.
5.)Once the public key has been saved, click on the Legitimization key tab at the top.
Then click on the "Import" Button below... select and confirm the saved key file.
6.) Click on "Close" and "Update" the Repolist in Synaptic.
7.) Search for "Simutrans" in Synaptic or the Pack Manager and choose the Uni Repo File and the PAK Set you want....

Simutrans-Germany has been blocked by my ISP for several weeks, so I guessed that it had been taken over by cybersquatters. Is the site operating as normal for others?

I just loaded the link and it appears to properly be Simutrans Wiki.

Sadly not.

I am getting off-topic so I have started a new thread (https://forum.simutrans.com/index.php/topic,19010.0.html) about this problem.

All IPv6 ISPs in the UK which give only IPv6 addresses should offer IPv4 support via the respective protocols. IPv6 was designed to be backwards compatible like this.

The issue is only for servers in the other direction. An IPv6 only server cannot be accessed by an IPv6 connection, since there is no IPv4 to IPv6 connection protocol.

Has it really gotten that far in the UK that not getting an IPv4 address could conceivably be an issue? Over in Norway, IPv6 was until recently, unless it still is, something you had to opt in for.

yes it is, called "DS-Lite" or "Dual Stack Lite"
in Germany mostly cheap mobile ISP, but also new small ISP do
if you wish a real ip4 you have to book and pay for (normally cost 4-8 Euro more)
