Title: How to get half-heigh slopes from -ppm heightmaps
Post by: 1993matias on April 04, 2020, 11:51:39 AM
Hello,

While experimenting with some small maps to get the settings right, I've found out that Simutrans always makes full-height slopes when importing heightmaps. Is it at all possible to get half-height slopes when importing heightmaps?

I've tried following this guide:
https://forum.simutrans.com/index.php?topic=15308.0 (https://forum.simutrans.com/index.php?topic=15308.0)
But unfortunately it yields the same results...

Example: https://maps.simutrans.com/world.html (https://maps.simutrans.com/world.html) choose Strait of Gibraltar and import it to Simutrans. All slopes will be steep. Now, I followed the forum post and changed all colours to increments of five (https://i.imgur.com/E9eLu09.png (https://i.imgur.com/E9eLu09.png)), but that gave exactly the same map. What am I doing wrong?
If it makes any difference, I'm using Simutrans-Ex with pak128.Britain-Ex

EDIT: Silly me was trying to use the numbers in the RGB0-1 scale when they're actually in the RGB0-255 scale. Ficcling around with some numbers yielded the right slopes - not all increments of five give a new level, at least not in pak128.Britain-Ex. What I found was the following:
85 85 85 - Lowest water level
90 90 90
100
105
115
125 - highest water level
135 - lowest ground level
