Title: Android with horizontal orientation
Post by: Yona-TYT on June 06, 2023, 03:00:15 PM
Horizontal screen orientation is still a big problem in some windows, in this case [Start Game] and [Quit] buttons are not displayed.

The problem is that the toolbar takes up a lot of horizontal space. This can be solved by changing the position of the toolbar vertically... but also, how about dividing the toolbar into two groups?.

For example: On the right would be the construction tools and the settings menu. While on the left the rest of the tools would be left such as: lists, underground mode, pause.

 Look at the example image:

Dividing the toolbar is difficult. A toolbar with more than one row would be easy. May be already possible, since the toolbar is just like a menu bar.

But the new world would not need a toolbar at all ...

As a quick fix, r10927 add menubar draggable to each corner.

It's a shame actually, in my opinion I think it would be somewhat more ergonomic due to the position of the thumbs when you have a mobile device in your hands in a vertical orientation, plus you always keep construction tools and other tools like view / control in the map or navigation.

Interesting, how would simutrans be without a toolbar?... do you mean using something like a banner or panel? or just hide the toolbar automatically? (it would be very useful to save screen space).

It would be nice if the status bar stays on the top when the toolbar is moved to a vertical position, currently if I move the toolbar the status bar changes to the bottom.
