The new tool that appears in pak64 makes trees transparent but does not hide them. Can you make this tool toggle between showing, hiding and transparency?.

I always prefer hiding trees as it gives me better visualization.:D
Not really, as it will also show foundations instead of transparent buildings. But if you set the options once in the display settings, it will be rembered.
