Title: Players' Coloured Arlecchino
Post by: SusieNoia on May 27, 2025, 12:39:21 AM
Hello,

I painted the Arlecchino train by MagicaVoxel and Gimp :)

Could someone repaint it in the players' colours?
It is difficult for me ::(

Wow! That's awesome.. Well done!!

Auu it's amazing, thank you!
Your paint is natural even in the anti-aliased areas :o

Thank you ^-^
Different shadings of the player colors exist, that's how I achieved the natural look  :)

I guess you're happy with the result then.. Please note, that I purposely applied the secondary player color (PC) on the green areas around the windows, as light blue is the standard PC, it would let the windows just vanish.
What do you think? Would it be better to repaint both green areas -window bar and lower train part/skirt- in the secondary PC or are you happy with the combined PCs?

I like combined one
I thought of repainting all the green areas in the standard PC before I saw your work. But if they were to be replaced by various PCs, it would be nicer if the two areas were of different colours :D

Finalmente!

It was more work then expected, but it's finally done , puuuff :::)

Can I tell you first, that the train you painted is really well done and the details you've put in with the night-lights, the window lights -and curtains I guess- and even the small passing door window being lit at night is adorable.. great work!!

I tried my best and also controlled and corrected it, using shades 6.1 (https://forum.simutrans.com/index.php?topic=5389.0), so I expect the player-color function to work without problems.

Please inspect the files and if you notice something you want to have changed, simply tell me.
I gladly will correct it :)

PS: In the process of 'isolating' the green areas, automatically an version with one single PC (player color) resulted, which I then used to repaint the window stripe in the second PC. As I now have both versions at hand, I just include them both here, so you still can choose which one you prefer.

Ottimo lavoro!

Thank you very much for your careful work
I am glad that the gradient is so fine.

I immediately tried them out on the game...

The train on the left is of the primer colour only(green in the middle of the second tier), the one on the right is of two colours.

My preference is bi-colour, but what works better on the game is one-colour ::-\

You're the artist and author of the train, so you decide over your work  :)

The bi-colored train truly looks gorges, but of course, with the right color combination.
The primer-color-only train, though, too is a beauty.
It's so nice to get vehicles which actually incorporate the player color(s), as not all do.

Im glad too, you're happy, how the repainting turned out.
I did try to preserve your great vivid design  :)

I wondered, if you would like to share a bit more of your creation process?
You mentioned at the start of this topic, that you used MagicaVoxel and Gimp, but how did you get from the idea to the final result?

Thank you but I haven't done anything so great ;)

Ehm... I'll take the primer-colour-only, for the original use of player colours 8)

I will start a new topic on how to make images.
It is not difficult to do, and more people will draw add-ons :lightbulb:

I like your 'Arlecchino' ;)
And thanks to your add-on, I now know it even existed and that it was introduced at the 1960 Olympics in Rome (which I wasn't aware of neither :::)).

I want to thank you very, very much for writing your insight in how to draw graphics with MagicaVoxel and Gimp (https://forum.simutrans.com/index.php/topic,23535.0.html)!
It's very well explained and I wasn't aware of this "lego-brick modeling" approach. It's great, thank you!

I did create one add-on vehicle myself a while ago, but struggled with a follow-up design I had in mind.
But with your simple guide, I'm now confident to get it realized in consistent quality and with half the effort =))

PS: For who's curios to learn about the "Arlecchino" too, I'll recommend it's Wikipedia article (en (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FS_Class_ETR_300#:~:text=%5B6%5D-,Arlecchino%20(ETR%20250),-%5Bedit%5D), it (https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elettrotreno_FS_ETR.300#:~:text=%5B7%5D-,ETR.250%20%22Arlecchino%22,-%5Bmodifica%20%7C), de (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/FS_ETR.250))

I'm really glad I had you repaint it :)
When I painted Arlecchino I did not know how to paint the player colours. But thanks to that I got a nice, organic add-on, thank you.
And I am happy that you are interested in the real Arlecchino!
