Title: Do I have to use "\n" in each text that I try to translate?
Post by: Aureus on June 11, 2026, 09:12:16 AM
Hey guys, I need your help~~~

I would like to know, if I don't put these breakline symbols into them, what will happen? Such like will the text display out of the message boxes?

It depend on witch text you translate.
Normal Simutrans format the text itself and so it is better not try to format the text. In some old text the are \n from time where this is necessary for Simutrans. Better remove them. Keep in mind: the formatting must be suitable for Simutrans; how the text looks in the translator doesn't matter.

I see you translate into Chinese.
Normally, Simutrans can only wrap  the line at spaces. It seems to me that Simutrans handles Chinese characters differently. I recommend simply testing it in this specific case.

Simutrans inserts a break after each 10 CJK characters because it could not break otherwise. So no breaks needed.

The only exception is for attractions, where the short name is separated by two breaks from the description
