Title: PlayTrans's Buildings
Post by: PlayTrans2009 on August 29, 2009, 05:48:14 AM
The list to download house is below the post.

It is:
1) Residential House 1
2) Commercial House 1 (Yellow Store)
3) Commercial House 2 (2 Floor Germany Flag Building)

Enjoy! :D

It's a good start. But some things to consider:

1. Texture - notice how houses in the game use textures to look nice (except the comic paks)
2. Shading - look at houses - not every surface is the same brightness
3. Scale - it doesn't look like it fits the scale of the game

But it's a good start. Check out the wiki for a lot of helpful information on how to make your drawings look good. And of course, you'll need to write a dat file and run makeobj to get it into the game :)

EDIT: Didn't catch it was for pak96 comic. heh.

Ok, I do not need texture. The scale looks fine I think. Shading, why do we need it?

EDITEDIT: How to make dat files? I don't understand in the wiki!

Size is ok for pak 96. Texures aren't needed, it's comic style. Some more details would be good, but it's a good start.

Shading is needed to make it appear 3-dimensional. The right wall facing east (bottom right) needs to be darker than the other one.

The minimum-dat to pak it looks like this

Obj=building
name=house
copyright=your name
level=5
Type=res
BackImage[0][0][0][0][0][0]=House1pak96.comic.0.0

you can pak it online at: http://online-dat.simutrans-germany.com/ (http://online-dat.simutrans-germany.com/)

this file name House1pak96.comic.PNG is not good

the extension is better to .png

Epic, I will give it to you by soon enough. I need to rotate in north-west, south-west...

Is there any programme that do that?

Some problems:

Your house-wall is 38px -> that are 3 floors. You have only 2 floors. A floor is ca. 13px.
Your window is crooked. Is that intentional?
Your walls need on right a darker color, because the sun shines from left bottom.
Your roof is to empty.
The color from the ground is not ok.

I have tried to show you some changes:

- wall color
- front black line between the walls in color
- smaller door
- new windows
- new roof (not complete)
- new ground with pavement

You can paint it further or you use some changes in your own grafic.

Great, bad news.

I cannot have the house. I DID place the pak in the pak96.comic. Is there a problem?

PS: I do not use the 4-view.

I cannot have the house.

What does this mean?

Maybe you should upload the pak file here for us to look at.

Oops. There is no problem. Lol...

EDIT: There is a problem.

This cause the problem. This won't let the house be there in 2-view or 4-view. Is there a solution?

EDIT EDIT: In the picture, there is an error. Image invalid. Is there a solution for that?

you set the paksize wrong, see line 3 in dat file

- load the dat file ( button 'file list' and '[ load file ]' by dat file )
- bottom on page is a field Pak-size
- set the field Pak-size correct

- klick 'save dat file and create pak file'

or

- set the field 'Pak-size' correct
- select by 'Files' -> select
- select the png new and klick button 'select'

- set grafics in list fields new

- klick 'save dat file and create pak file'

I did the same thing to you but it still doesn't work.

That is because I flip the one of the image to another image.

It works Frank! Thanks! :D

EDIT: See the images below.

EDIT EDIT: Ok, I give you the pak file third below.

EDIT EDIT EDIT: I'm making another building. But it has a problem. On the picture... same thing. IT HAS NO PROBLEM! I make this with snow, without 2-view or 4-view... See the two files below the pak file.

EDIT EDIT EDIT EDIT (Lol...): Underline. The strikethrough means "good news" for the underline. :D

EDIT EDIT EDIT EDIT EDIT (O.O): Well, can anyone tell me how to change the cost of my house in the dat file?

House1pak96_comicside2.png has a wrong shading; for the other building, try sojo's suggestion

Must be changed:
- Shadings

Here is the pre-release of the yellow store.

Changes WILL be made soon enough.

If you have any problems on the store, tell me and I'll fix it.

- fabio: Needs shading...

If you have some important stuff make it bold.

Also, less of the unimportant writing helps readers to find the important text ;)

You can use bold for important information (use it sparingly!) and italics to emphasize some text, or otherwise mark it as special (i.e. for commands to type, or names, or anything else that might otherwise be lost in text).

You can use bold for important information (use it sparingly!) and italics to emphasize some text

Please do not bother to say this. It is not necessary.

I can see the times of your posts. I'm not blind. If you double-posted, I will see that and act appropriately. If you didn't double post, I will see that, and act appropriately. Either way, it is not necessary.

it doesn't show up in game.

a building doesn't necessarily pop up the first time you insert it in pak.

if you want to test it, try to switch to public player and insert it MANUALLY (if you can't find it in the list-- then there's a problem!
