Title: Running costs - balance?
Post by: paco_m on November 12, 2010, 08:34:22 PM
I tried my first games in pak64 and I am a bit surprised about the running costs,
for example starting in 1960 I have the following trains (diesel) for passenger transport:

VT98
2 motorized + 1 passive units
90 km/h, 240 passg
running cost 3,62/km = 0,015/km/passg

BR212 + H-Trans waggons
1 locomotive + 6 waggons
100 km/h, 540 passg
running cost 65,18/km = 0,121/km/passg

that means that the running costs using a train instead of the railcar are 8 times higher (per passenger)  :o
is this intentionally?

The 212 can reach vmax with six wagon. Thus you have to compare costs with six waggon. You have to use also the old Pr wagons.

But to compare, vehicles with higher maxspeed have higher cost, since you get higher income from them. Do not use the most expensive vehicle on them, and you an engine which maxspeed is close to the one of the passenger car.

just a typo, actually I made the calculation with 6 waggons (6x90=540 passg)

Sorry, according to my chart is was made for the 4x TPPassagierwagen with 162 passengers. But this engine is not well suited for passenger transport in 1958. Rather use the Br03 for high income.
