I am developing a larger, more realistic (no offense) oil tank extension building.

Looks good but that's not the right point of view, electroduck. Check this diagram (http://graphics.simutrans.com/albums/userpics/10003/geometry.png) to put the camera in the right position.

PS I am new to rendering, could you point me to any tutorials that are a little simpler? Thanks.
which program are you using?
simutrans uses an isometric 3D view so there's no perception of depth, where objects further away look smaller than what they would up close.
SketchUp Pro 7.
