Hi guys!
I am trying to set up pak128 of Simutrans on my MacBook Pro (leopard). The standard game pak64 works fine (I installed it using MacPorts) but when I try to run the pak128 version (i did load the folder to the directory & updating simuconf.tab), the console says :
....
Reading object data from pak128/...
Bus error
logout
And the program crashes ???
Any ideas?
Which version of program and pak did you combined?
version 102-2-2
and pak version 1.4.6
Did you try the pak128 1.4.5? This should work in any case.
I tried even that and the result is the same: pak128 will not run :( The error message is changed a bit:
----
Reading city configuration ...
Reading forest configuration ...
Reading object data from pak128/...
/opt/local/bin/simutrans: line 6: 1661 Bus error /opt/local/share/simutrans/sim $@
logout
----
What about the fact I used the MacPorts for installing the game? It is then stored in this strange MacPorts folder and any attempt to move it to applications results in crash...
I am not even sure what old version there is in macports. The most recent is 99.17.1, which could explain why it fails to even read the paks. Is this a PowerPC mac?
I would advice to download sourcecode, cd to trunk and compile it using make.
Its just MacBook Pro. Could you advice me how to compile the game, please?
oh, and btw when I run the game, it says it is version 99.17.1
Use a newer version from sourceforge (see download links at the top of this forum), if you want to use newer paks. 102.2.2 is available for powerPC and Intel macs. MacBooks were built with both imho, but if it is not tto old, it should run with intel processor.
i have an intel processor for sure.
When I download the zip file with the game, what to do next? I reckon I should somehow compile it, can you tell my how?
Thank you for your help!
You can use the binary from sourceforge. YOu just need to install SDL. On www.libsdl.org is a dmg to install it.
Hosana hallelujah! It works, finally! Many thanks! ;D
