Title: Engine smoke
Post by: paco_m on February 13, 2011, 10:38:42 AM
Currently the smoke graphics are just centered in the tile and taken from one and the same graphic for every directions (north, south, ...).
This conflicts with vehicles that have their smoke output near the top or at the end of the vehicle instead of in the middle and in fact vehicles having it in the center as it is supposed by Simutrans are rather rare ;)

Would be possible to define smoke graphics for each direction exactly as the vehicles are defined?

It's already possible to do it using the smoke offset, isn't it?

As vilvoh suggests, allowing an offset seems a better solution.

The offset would need to be direction dependent. Thus it would be rather 4 (resp. 8) offsets needed.

As prissi already pointed out you would have to adjust the offset for each direction. At least for me it would be easier to paint the images for each direction because here I could use the vehicle as a template. ;)
Maybe this could added as an option, taking the different views when they are defined [N], [NW], ... and so on and leave it as it is when they are not defined (current smoke dats).
