What!!! you don't pay taxes or council rates in your country. How does your local authority pay for road repairs, rubbish collection, sewage works, etc, etc, etc. Maybe they a benevolent society.

It is certainly not! Do you wanna help others with your money?

Well Australia certainly sends billions of dollars to other country's in Foriegn Aid IE: $173 million to Pakistan this year, just to name one. We may even send aid to your country, maybe that's why you don't pay council rates, I'm paying them for you.. Answer me this. Do your roads/railways/etc - if you have any - get fixed up for free? Do you, or your parents, not pay taxes on their pay? or is it that you are just not aware of the fact?

Anyway the reason I asked, and the question certainly was NOT addressed to you three respondees, was because my Public Utility  is currently$275 million Simu's in the red while I have $2.4 billion in credit.

Could I please have a response from one of our developers? I'm not really interested in answers from people who don't understand the way Country's and Councils pay for what they do. I'm only interested in wether a player can pay money to his/her utility which in reality is the way the REAL world works.

Colin, what you want is actually not pakset-specific, so you might be more successful hearing from the devs if you had posted this elsewhere, e.g. at Extension Requests, or else where, where program functions are discussed.

Anyway, to my knowledge, the topic of having the public player get some money, one way or the other, was discussed in the past, but prissi didn't seem to be interested, as that player is not considered a "real" player and can never go bankrupt. Even simple, almost cosmetic solutions were denied, if I remember correctly. So I wouldn't bet on having anything like this implemented.

Thank's Dirk, at last a sensible answer. I wasn't aware that it had been discussed before but I'll not bother now. The only reason why I posted it here was because it wasn't really an extension request just a question. Thank's again mate

It is eventually planned to add a taxation feature to Experimental (where the public player would receive an income from towns (at the expense of their rate of growth) and a percentage of the player's profits, the rate adjustable by the public player, the public player being constrained in its finances by the credit limit), but this is not a high priority task at present.

This sounds really like a good idea. Simutrans Experimental rocks.
