Title: bridge building bug
Post by: smile on June 28, 2011, 05:33:11 PM
Here is some interesting bug. It occurred building bridge during online game in 64.simutrans.entropy.me.uk. In this picture you can see (i hope) that brigde start is owned by one player and bridge end is owned by anouther.
Posible cause may be lag or lost of sinc (it was very laggy that time when bug occurred following resinc).

I have tested this bug in an offline game, and it can occur there too. Any player can connect any two stubs of track with their own bridge. I once exploited this bug to give "trackage rights" between two railroads.

THis might lead into maintance errors. Furthermore upon bankrupsy stange stuff may happen. It think this should be not allowed.

Should be fixed in r4677. Maintenance was calculated right btw.

Is there a way to build brigdes between two ends of tracks both belonging to another player? I could only build bridges starting from my own tracks to other player's tracks.

Thanks  :). I can't seem to do that though I thought it happened to me once a while back. The bridge problems also exist when connecting to an elevated way or the side of a vertical slope.

In testing, though, I found two other related bugs
1. Other players can use slope tools on the ends of other players' track (Only on the surface, not underground).
2. When a bridge is built by a non-public player on a public way, the way underneath the bridge becomes owned by the player (I understand this may not be fixable).

If it is a "orange" public way, then this is a way without owner and the ownership is taken to prevent deletion od that tile by any player.

This should have been fixed with r4677 as well  ???

This is intended behavior imho.
