Title: Fatal Error
Post by: mgp104 on November 08, 2011, 01:27:45 AM
Hi,

I've been playing V110.6 10.2 with pak128.Britain Ex 0.8.2 and it's been working until now, however I've had an error when trying to load a saved game:

FATAL ERROR:
quickstone<T>::quickstone_
tpl(T*,uint16)
slot(166) already taken
PRESS ANY KEY

I went back to a previous working saved game and tried again, this time saving regularly and with multiple saves in case it was a corrupted save (There didn't seem to be any problems during the game or when I saved).  However the same thing happened again (with all the saves including autosaves), the game date that this occurs is roughly mid 1964.  I found a similar error by searching the forum but there wasn't a resolution.  During the time between working and not working all I was doing was replacing out of date vehicles with new ones and some minor road alterations.  Does anyone have any ideas about how to resolve this?

Mark

Mark,

welcome to the forums, and sorry that you have had problems. First of all, you are using a somewhat out of date version of Simutrans-Experimental: the latest version is 10.3. You might want to try updating to the latest version.

Secondly, can you upload a copy of your last working saved game so that I can try to reproduce the error? It is probably a bug in Simutrans-Experimental itself (which is why I am about to move this thread to the Simutrans-Experimental section).

Thank you for your report!

Hi,

Thanks for the heads up on the newer version, where do I upload my saved game to as the file size is much greater than the 64kb limit for attachments on this forum?

Hi,

It's been uploaded as Crash-Test.sve.

I've tried a careful re-run of the game from a working save and got to 1965 without a problem.  I suspect that deleting a bridge with a bus-stop on it to replace the bridge with a stronger bridge and then rebuilding the bus-stop (without checking the bus routes for errors) was causing the problem although I cannot be sure.

I'm having another problem now, I've uploaded a saved game called Crash-Test8.sve.  If this game is played until July 1965 (about a month and a half after the save) the game crashes, I have no idea what causes this problem although it seems to occur at the same point every time.

Are those with the 10.3 version? I remember there being a lot of crashes with 10.2, but I've yet to see any with 10.3.

I started using 10.2 but have now migrated to 10.3.

I think that I have found the cause of the crash, and pushed a fix to the 10.x branch - however, the fix requires that the substations in Pentingchester be deleted in order to work (they can probably be rebuilt after the end of the month, but I have not tested that far). Thank you for your report!

Thanks for the fix, how do I go about getting the update?  So far I've been downloading the zip file from your post entitled "How to get Simutrans-Experimental".  Do I have to re-download that zip file or the source code?
