Title: Dutch village without roads
Post by: jamespetts on April 22, 2012, 10:51:37 AM
Article/video on the BBC: instead of roads, they have canals. Link here (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-17789343). I thought that some people might be interested.

Venice? There are pedestrian "streets" but they are footpaths really, all traffic is on water apart from a little bit at the end of the causway.

That said, you could hardly call it a thriving industrial and commercial city.

Pictures must have been short very early in the morning or late in the evening. Giethoorn is quite a tourist trap in The Netherlands. You would not want to live there if you were looking for rest and quiet.
