Every time i click on a vehicle i get a popup screen about the road description. I find this to be more annoying then helpful as i grow weary of closing that window. Is there a way to turn it off?

Patrick, I think what you are doing is clicking beside the vehicle instead of on it. Sometimes it is real hard to tell exactly where to click, the more you play, the easier this will get. It is especially difficult on roads that run diagonally.
If you get two windows, one with road and other with the vehicle. Open simuconf.tab file in config folder (in simutrans folder and pakset folder) and look for string: only_single_info and set it to 1.

This was the proper answer, i looked through the config file and at that particular info. but didn't think i should change it..... now it works the way i want. Thanks!!
When you want to see the info for the road in this place just click again and it will open the road dialog, same applies to townhouse and stations, keep clicking to see other objects' dialogs.
You can also ctrl+click to get the "other-than-default" behaviour.
