Title: New demo game
Post by: The Hood on March 20, 2013, 10:08:31 PM
Given the amount of new material in pak128.Britain over the last few years I wanted to encourage a competition for a new demo save on startup. The existing one is fantastic so the standard is set pretty high. Two conditions for winning the competition:

1) At least as good as the existing one
2) Make use of new ships/canals in addition to trains etc.

One idea for it:

A long map, perhaps along a wide river, where the time also changes with position. At the very left edge the map would be 1750 and at the very right edge it would be 2000. In this way the whole scale of the pakset could be high-lighted.

With timeline off it might be possible, but also would be immense work, to build the cities mostly.

The time-warp savegame might require a Brigadoon plugin...

James, I'm afraid I can't.

Wlindley: Brigadoon is a pop culture reference?

There's timeline off setting, that ought to be enough.

I have started working on a mini map a few weeks ago based on a time changing theroy as an experiment. I never got around to finishing due getting a new PC. I have recovered my old save file.
here are some pictures

How it is supposed to work when finished.
-A Eurostar will travel the first leg of the from City A to City B and turn off into a tunnel (makes it as if the service is going to a far away place)
-From B to C there will be an Intercity 125 running before turning off into a tunnel.
-From C to D the theme will be WWII
-D to E will the between the wars
-E to F will be before the WWII
-before finally reaching the Stephensons Rocket at the left of the map
Diesel Locos will be scattered across the map based on time peroids and the same thing will be done with boats/ships on a long river/canal.
Factories, freight and minor cities/ towns will be scattered around the area.

I will work on this map in my spare time so this may not be done for a couple of months. I really enjoy this pak would would like to contribute to it.
