Title: British Trains for Pak 64
Post by: Carl on April 17, 2013, 02:12:52 PM

Edit 22/4/15: the link below now provides a complete set of trains used on the finished GB map.
----------

In conjunction with my Great Britain map, I've been making lots of contemporary British rolling stock. I'm now ready to release a first version of the trains I've been using on that map for general use.

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/61716/BritishTrains.rar (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/61716/BritishTrains.rar)

Here's a non-exhaustive screenshot (i.e. the pack contains more trains than this):

The pack contains Standard and Experimental versions, as well as sources.

Please consider this a beta release. Many of the vehicles still need work. While vehicle stats (power, speed, capacity) are more or less accurate, intro years and economic balance are not by any means accurate. Furthermore, there are lots of graphical tweaks needed. I will, of course, update the package given time.

Thany you Carl for The British Trains Beta release.

How do you add these trains into the great Britain PAC?
Title: Re: British Trains beta release
Post by: Carl on April 25, 2013, 05:30:03 PM
Hi planestrainscomputer,

That isn't possible since the Britain pak is a 128-size pak, and these are 64-size models. You can add these models to any 64-pixel size pak: i.e. pak64, pakGerman, etc.

Pak-128Britain contains many (if not most) of these trains anyway.

Sorry i meant your great Britain  rail network. Whenever i copy them into pak.ngb newconveys they come up as missing conveys.

Oh, I see. These should already be present in the pakset provided with the savegame. It's possible that I've provided an out of date version of the pakset with latest version of the savegame -- I'll check on that shortly.
Title: [new version] British Trains beta release
Post by: Carl on August 21, 2013, 10:28:03 AM
Here's an updated version of this set:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/61716/BritishTrains.rar (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/61716/BritishTrains.rar)

You'll find a wider range of trains, as well as some graphical fixes for those already present. Once again, both Standard and Experimental versions are provided along with sources.

I've also started to experiment with a larger size for some of the smaller trains. Two- and three-car multiple units look a touch too tiny at length=8, so I've started to make them length=10 instead. Here's an example, the East Midlands Trains class 156:

I eventually plan to roll out this change to other units too.

There's still a lot of variance in quality here. Some vehicles, like the HSTs, are more or less up to pakset standard graphics-wise, but others are far from up to scratch at the moment.

Here's a full list of trains included in this set.

Code: [Select]
Class 43 ('HST'): East Midlands Trains, First Great Western

The latest version of this addon pack can be found here:

It features a few new trains, plus improved (and in many cases lengthened) versions of existing trains.

As a slight deviation on this I am drawing older and fantasy liveries from Carl's sources - NSE/Inter City/Regional Railways and British Railway style liveries for units introduced after privatization.

Although currently it has no dat files yet, i'm hoping to clean up (no offence Carl!) the pakset and look to possibly start on buildings and maybe some new stations. I will also look to simplify the tracks (3 or 4 tracks, all the same style and speed!) and draw a third rail.

Essentially start creating a pak64.britian.

EDIT

To keep Carl's actual save game thread clean i'll show off the new liveries here instead - hopefully some buildings may start soon too.

All work so far is included, plus an Intercity 317. The incomplete 395 is because I need some feedback about the drawings.

Any feedback regarding the 395, i'm not sure if it is in keeping with the style the SE livery was - it's far less grainy/detailed than your one. I've held off drawing it further while I decide how best to approach it. I think the doors extend too low, and could do with an extra pixel skimming off.

A single unit for you today - 455 in NSE livery. First and only day off in 10 days so bare with me on the project!

I spent a large part of today studying Carl's work more in depth with both the colours and which image is which. As a result i've realized an error in my painting where i've painted the wrong parts of the train in certain places. Specifically i think a few of the paintings on the EMU's have got the cab painting where the dat file thinks an intermediate coach is.

The end result of the time spent studying the images is a text file containing the major colours for every TOC. I will us this as I do both fantasy, historical or just for the hell of it liveries. I've also changed my approach to doors deciding that on the older units which did run as say, NSE will receive doors painting as they were in real life. To ensure that the doors stand out if you zoom to 800% the painting won't look true however from 100% you can see the door more clearly.

Please provide any and all feedback regarding this - I think this is the best designed unit i've done because of the time spent understanding how the colour scheme works.

A very quick update - i think a few of the already painted trains may get a bit of a touch up following the various things i've learned since starting - obviously a lot of quick progress was made but i believe there is lots of room for improvement. seeing as how i'm not very good at painting the actual chassis of the stock, i'm still running on what i think are final versions of Carls work and all of my is still derivative of this.

Hopefully as Carl finishes off his epic project this smaller one will not be too far behind. For the time being i've had to slow down a tiny bit but i'm still looking and painting and next week might see a large number of new units - hopefully a completed 395, a re done 377 or two, the HST and a few more.

I'm also going to streamline the pak and all of my additions to take advantage of the livery function of experimental while also making pak files for standard available.

The biggest challenge now i've isolated colours is picking a way of getting BR Blue down and inline with teh rest of the scheme and cutting the unneeded parts of the source files out so we will hopefully have a smaller download. Then i can pak up the entire lot using these sources. I will keep liveried trains in seperate png files and link them only in the dat file for now and look to perhaps merge it in to a series of unit png files at a later date.

Not all of mine are strictly final - some of the earlier units are still due an update, especially those which are still half a tile (length=8) rather than length=10. For instance, if you're looking at class 158s, use the Northern one as a base rather than the EMT or FGW ones, since I haven't gotten around to updating the latter two.

That was what i was trying to elude to without being rude and sounding like i was just saying "because Carl didn't finish the pak, i can't do stuff" when actually it is a constantly evolving project with (for your part) a great many things to consider! With that in mind, i'll see what I can do to aid in painting newer versions of units with the missing liveries.

I have a teaser for you - it's a new BUS. Brighton and Hove bus liveried. It's not finished, but it's a start. Enjoy!

EDIT: Finished! Bonus points if anyone knows what bus this actually is. I'm quite happy with it as a first draft. Feel free to provide feedback and let me know where it needs improving.

EDIT: Carl, i've just noticed a... time saving "thing" you've done - the 444 and 450 have the same body despite the 444 being closer to LHCS rather than an EMU in design (doors at the end specifically). Cheeky! I assume that anything with "new" after isn't going to be changed, such as the 377 but the 444/450 look like they're still in the older style. I'll leave them for now unless you say they are final versions? Ta.

For some reason I missed your last post KneeOn - apologies.

That bus is great! I'm going to use it in my map, if that's ok :)

RE the 444 and 450, both of them are due an update and polish, and I'm not happy with either of their 'front ends'. So hopefully this will get fixed soon™ :)

Anything I post can be changed, used or whatever as long as it isn't just ripped off so of course you can! (I should probably put that in my sig)

I've got a few more designs coming your way very soon - the World Cup is now taking upa lot of my time but with only 2 game slots now I intend on cracking on as soon as i get home from work until the first game of the day. One of the designs is going to be some form of retro unit (4CIG most likely).

Also, anyone who is a trainspotter or happens to work on the railway will know that Govia have won the rights the TSGN Franchise (Southern, FCC and a tiny part of South Eastern all in one) and that the DfT have a new Cl700 train on the way AND that will be delivered in a grey livery with white flashes and blue doors AND that a plain white 319 with blue doors is about to reenter service after being given a TSGN style livery. some or all of these things will be attended to at some point.
Title: Re: British Trains beta release
Post by: Carl on June 23, 2014, 03:09:52 PM
Apparently there's a Class 365 in the TSGN livery too:
http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http%3A%2F%2Fupload.wikimedia.org%2Fwikipedia%2Fcommons%2Ff%2Ff4%2FEly%2C_Class_365_in_TSGN_livery.JPG&imgrefurl=http%3A%2F%2Fen.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FThameslink_Great_Northern_franchise&h=3240&w=4320&tbnid=FUdYa70PMlHDcM%3A&zoom=1&docid=033R_HjDAAh7SM&ei=m0KoU_yRBOaw7AaTuYG4Ag&tbm=isch&ved=0CB8QMygAMAA&iact=rc&uact=3&dur=1187&page=1&start=0&ndsp=15

I need to give the Cl319 a going over at some point. It's probably the one I'm least happy with -- that front end is not especially realistic.
Title: Re: British Trains beta release
Post by: KneeOn on June 23, 2014, 03:17:28 PM
I have no idea how i forgot about that, it's been plastered all over as part of our "commitment to the future of the route" or whatever. I think three 365's are already done. and maybe a 321 but I can't be sure on that one. I did take a look at redoing the 319 but it proved to be beyond me - that front end is quite hard to get right with a 64 pixel set.
Title: Re: British Trains beta release
Post by: Carl on June 23, 2014, 03:27:51 PM
It is, which is why it ended up looking like it does now :) Anything with a slant is pretty challenging actually. My Class 321 is just about passable but it's still not quite right.
Title: Re: British Trains beta release
Post by: KneeOn on June 23, 2014, 03:53:33 PM
Having painted that 222 in IC colours, i'd agree - slopes are far easier because the gradient doesn't look wrong. I've got a couple of ideas for the side view but getting that front one right is probably the hardest. maybe some clever shading? It'd be hard to not make it look two tone. I can't help but notice it's one of the smaller looking units - especially on the width. I'll play around with some front and side views later if i remember and see if i can contribute anything.

EDIT: NO slam door stock today, mostly because world cup and the fact that this unit was quite challenging to draw to my liking.

377, in Stagecoach suburban livery (the one i felt was most suitable). it is based on this picture: (http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/uploads/1255110591/gallery_6731_93_239600.jpg)

Someone should do the Class 380 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_380).

This engine is not only famous for its unusual design, but also for its very poor side panelling that looks like it has been hammered into place rather than neatly engineered. They also make an annoying electronic alarm beeping sound as they drive past for some reason (probably health and safety related). It is also a very modern engine which would be great for expanding late game convoy choice (2009 - 2011).
Title: Re: British Trains beta release
Post by: Carl on June 25, 2014, 08:33:35 AM
I have painted the Class 380 and it will be in the next set of vehicles I release -- I should get around to doing that this weekend.

I'm not sure that the poor quality of the side paneling will be reflected in my pak-64 image though :)
Title: Re: British Trains beta release
Post by: KneeOn on June 25, 2014, 02:50:24 PM
The 380 is one of the more unique "new" units on the network - even though its part of the Desiro family.

Carl, it'll be interesting to see how you approach this unit - it's got a flat yet slanting front. If you've done a job you're happy with on it could you be looking at the way to improve/repaint the 319?

Also, how do you replace old units with newer versions in your map - using the replace feature or by swapping out the .pak file but retaining the name?
Title: Re: British Trains beta release
Post by: Carl on June 25, 2014, 02:56:49 PM
The 380 was actually easier than the 319 since I was able to adapt the 377/379 and obtain an acceptable result. You can see it at the end of the Birmingham to Glasgow video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vk1kU144WRA), although the video might not be HQ enough for you to see the detail.

I usually replace the pak file and keep the same name. This isn't always possible or desirable, but it works most of the time. It does have some side effects, especially when making units longer -- so I have to be careful to troubleshoot after making a change like that.
Title: Re: British Trains beta release
Post by: KneeOn on June 25, 2014, 03:48:40 PM
I see, i thought replacing the pak name would be best.

Quick question on the set attached to the finished save game - what is up with the super long tube, 317 and 315s?

EDIT: I think modeling the improved 319 on the 380 would be wise - the diagonal slant is really good on that 380.
Title: Re: British Trains beta release
Post by: Carl on June 25, 2014, 03:54:16 PM
Those are from a 20 meters-per-tile London map I was experimenting with recently - they must have ended up in the same folder. I might do more on this in the future, so watch this space...
Title: Re: British Trains beta release
Post by: KneeOn on June 25, 2014, 03:57:33 PM
I see, I like the fact it's got almost pak128 level details but retains the pak64 style.
Title: Re: British Trains beta release
Post by: Carl on June 25, 2014, 04:00:21 PM
Yes, the extra pixels do allow for a pleasing amount of detail - but trains of that length are only really usable on maps with very low meters-per-tile settings, I think. Otherwise you can easily end up with trains longer than 1km -- which is fine for casual maps, but not when you're trying to simulate an actual network.

Hey hey hey, i'm still working on this with loads of unfished units - i'm hoping to get a few out soon. For the time being theres a first group 442 and a stagecoach nearly finished single decker bus based on the previous design i've done.

Title: Re: British Trains beta release
Post by: Ali on December 02, 2014, 12:17:43 AM
Quick question: It appears that only a convoy of the same type can be added to the existing one in the depot, so is there any way to modify the convoys from the British train pack so some of the more unusual workings can be reproduced?

For example, the odd class 150 makes it down to Portsmouth Harbour from Cardiff Central attached onto a class 158, when this route is primarily 158s only, or (even more rarely) a 450 will be attached to a 444 on the early morning/late evening services to London Waterloo.

Can't wait for the next update! :D

That's a really good idea. Hopefully I'll find some time over the Christmas break to make that happen and upload the backlog.

Post by: KneeOn on April 22, 2015, 11:16:04 AM
Carl, have you got a regular and experimental update to this? I know theres a lot of new units in the save game but experimental broke for me so i'm using 120.0.1 for the time being but only like using the British Pak.

Also, for what its worth with your map, the canal way on the Japanese set you used as a base has got a lot of walk ways and station buildings you could use to beef up stations should you need. I don't know if you saw it but i thought it looked useful.

I have more units waiting to be finished off when I get time but a new job has gotten in the way!

With many apologies for the extreme delay, here's the updated version of the British Trains for Pak 64 release:

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/61716/BritishTrains.rar

This should contain everything seen on the GB map, for both Standard and Experimental. Do let me know if there are any problems.

This is a full release now so I'll remove the unnecessary beta tag from the title of the thread.

So I was passing through Reading yesterday, and finally saw some of the FGW 166s sporting their smart new livery after their recent overhaul, and I've made an attempt to emulate it using Carl's wonderful 166 model as a template!

I know the 'Dynamic Lines' livery always garnered a bit of a polarised opinion, so I was wondering if anyone here has seen the new livery on the 166s, and if so, what their thoughts were?
Title: Re: British Trains for Pak 64
Post by: KneeOn on April 27, 2015, 11:46:36 AM
Having worked for FCC i liked the Dynamic Lines and FG Livery. It looked professional. I've not seen the new FGW 166 but have seen the (IMO) rather ugly VTEC 225 livery on the ECML. Its red and wavy with two blue (that well known Virgin branded colour) bars running along the train just below the windows.
Title: Re: British Trains for Pak 64
Post by: Ali on May 02, 2015, 12:17:39 PM
I agree with you there, there have been many good liveries on the ECML, but the most recent addition is not a favourite of mine!

Another repaint, this time attempting a FGW class 153. Once again, all credit to Carl for the original model!
Title: Re: British Trains for Pak 64
Post by: KneeOn on May 19, 2015, 12:02:13 PM
I had hoped for a darker grey, white and perhaps yellow trim much like VTWC but alas. I wasn't too keen on the EC livery but it was acceptable if a little bland. GTR's new liveries seen on the 365's and i think will be stock on the 700's looks minimal but classy - kind of like the new Android version with simple shapes and only a few bold colours. I think both the 700 and the 800 would look good in First Group colours or perhaps a totally new livery.

That painting is a very good job!

As it stands that PNG is the wrong shape. You need the square containing each image to be 64x64 pixels (or 128x128 for pak128). At the moment yours are 400x133.

I've attached an example you can use for reference. I recommend GIMP (https://www.gimp.org/) for editing, though many other tools are available!

Carl, the trains in a Simutrans Standard are slower than the maximum speed.
Title: Re: British Trains for Pak 64
Post by: Carl on November 19, 2016, 12:12:24 PM
Interesting. I expect that this is due to the physics code working differently. I've simply built the same dat files using a Standard makeobj. Anyone know what might have caused this?
Title: Re: British Trains for Pak 64
Post by: jamespetts on November 19, 2016, 11:47:18 PM
The physics code is definitely different between Standard and Experimental, so this might easily be the issue.

Hello,

This is my first contribution to this forum. And I would like to provide some other liveries for your trains. I am unsure as how to convert the images into the .pak files or .dat files, but i thought i'd post this here anyways. The Virgin Trains West Coast "Virgin Radio" livery. This is my first reskin for Simutrans however, I have made some in the past for Train/Transport Fever.

Hi!

That's a great livery! Keep up the good work!

I think I've got the hang of it now, here is another reskin/repaint. The East Coast Class 43 HST and MK3 Wagon. I would be thrilled if someone could explain how to make these into proper addons, as this operated to my local station, and as I've been inspired by Carl's work, I'll be re-making it in Simutrans.

My apologies - that was for Fam621 - he had earlier expressed an interest in producing graphics for Pak128.Britain, but had some difficulty in making it work, and I was hoping to learn more about the problem that he was having so as to see whether I could find a way of making it easier for graphics contributors in the future.

Hello,

Here is another one, the First ScotRail/ScotRail old livery class 170. This was a challenge for me, as I'm a beginner!

1st Challenge: Converting three liveries into .pak files
2nd Challenge: VTEC Class 43 HST
3rd Challenge: VTEC Interim Livery Class 43 HST

Title: Re: British Trains for Pak 64
Post by: Carl on November 21, 2016, 07:35:46 PM
For most of these you can adapt an existing .dat file, so you'll need to change the lines that begin 'emptyimage' to refer to your images.

So if you were adjusting the HSTXC.dat file (the CrossCountry HST), you would change every line like this:

EmptyImage{s}=HSTXC.0.0 (I changed the square brackets as they introduce strikethrough on the forum)

to

EmptyImage{s}=YOURFILENAME.0.0

You can do this with a find/replace. This will also change the names of the vehicles. Your vehicles need to have a unique name, i.e. not be the same as something else already in the pakset, or they won't show up. You also need to pay attention to the Constraint lines in the .dat, which tell you what can come before/after that vehicle. If you do the find/replace method this should all be taken care of.

Next you'll need to find a version of makeobj (and maybe pakhelper) to help turn the dat and png into a pak folder. Does anybody know where the most recent versions of those are kept?

Title: Re: British Trains for Pak 64
Post by: Carl on November 21, 2016, 09:34:45 PM
Here's the pak file. I had to change the dat file - take a look at it as a guide to what it needs to look like. You need one entry for each vehicle (in this case, front, middle, rear).

Let me know if there are any problems.

I know pakhelper is outdated, but I do still use it to avoid having to go into the command line. It's just a gui shell to run makeobj, right?

Lots of these trains have been updated as I've been revisiting the GB map (http://forum.simutrans.com/index.php?topic=7367.msg159144#msg159144).

Here's a folder containing the updates to dat and png files:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/fc4newq6qa9cegs/british-trains-update.rar?dl=0
This should be used in conjunction with the full download:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/ntajrqwdmn6plri/BritishTrains.rar?dl=0

There are updates to:
- Class 171
- Class 313 Southern
- Class 374
- Class 375
- Class 377 and 387
- Class 395
- Class 444
- Class 450
- Class 465
- Class 170 Scotrail
- Class 357
- HST East Coast
- RHTT set comprised of a Class 73

Note that vehicles that can use third rail have had their electrified track requirement removed - as I'm removing catenary from 3rd rail sections of my map, and I don't think it's worthwhile to use third rail graphics.

Fam, when you realize that nobody understands what you are talking about, try back you statement up with a save game that shows what is wrong and show/explain what you think should change. If you think there is a problem with the trains not running at full speed, show a savegame where you point out on the map that a train should run at full speed but is not.

If you wonder wether Carl has saved and upgraded his save game using the new "extended" version, ask that instead and so you will probably get a clear answer. 😊

Title: Re: British Trains for Pak 64

Acceleration and Deceleration, Passenger and Mail classes and a number of other features.
Title: Re: British Trains for Pak 64
Post by: Lewis on February 05, 2018, 03:20:11 AM
Based of what ive seen on Extended, the British Map would not work. There are some features included for example maintenance that would require constant updating on a map with a proper timetable. Also the class system would require redrawing and editing a lot of the trains to designate this.
Title: Re: British Trains for Pak 64
Post by: Carl on February 05, 2018, 11:01:51 AM
Interesting. I wouldn't mind one-off changes to dat files, but "constant updating" doesn't sound feasible on a large map. What exactly is it that requires updating regularly with regard to maintenance?
Title: Re: British Trains for Pak 64
Post by: Lewis on February 05, 2018, 12:14:45 PM
Quote
Way wear and automatic uograding:
Ways wear as convoys pass over them and the level of wear that each way can tolerate can be set in each way's .dat file using the wear_capacity=. The default value if not specified is 100,000,000.
The degree of wear exerted by each vehicle can then be set in each vehicle's .dat file, using the way_wear_factor=. By default, road and air vehicles (air vehicles acting like road vehicles on the ground) calculate their wear using the fourth power law based on the maximum axle load and an attempt to deduce the weight. Rail and allied vehicles default to a power of 2 (but query whether this should be a power of 1, i.e. linear). Water craft will default to zero, as water craft do not normally wear ways.
The wear is intended to be measured in 10,000ths of a standard axle load of 8t, meaning that if the vehicle has an axle load of 8t, the wear should be specified as 10000 per axle, and the ingame way wear for that axle should be exactly 1.

The condition of the way is indicated in the way information window and a new "wear" overlay for the minimap, and when the condition falls below a set fraction (default 1/7th, approx. 14%, setting in simuconf.tab), the way either auto-renews or, if player has insufficient funds, becomes degraded. If a way degrades, the speed limit will be reduced by half and if it degrades all the way to zero condition, the speed limit will be reduced to zero, making the way impassible.
By default, the way will auto renew to the same type unless it is obsolete, in which case the closest currently available type will be selected, however, a player can manually choose the type of way to which the way upgrades by SHIFT-dragging the new type of way over the old way. Auto renewing can also be disabled by SHIFT-dragging the way remover tool over the way and the way will behave in the same manners as when you have insufficient funds.
The player is warned up to once a month if a way needs renewing and the player has insufficient money with which to do so.
To create a mothballed way, use these values:
cost=0
maintenance=0
topspeed=0
max_weight=0
wear_capacity=0

Its more In-Game than dat files.
Title: Re: British Trains for Pak 64
Post by: Carl on February 05, 2018, 04:06:29 PM
Thanks, that's interesting. It does sound like you could basically opt out of it by setting the dat files correctly.

I'm quite a long way away from thinking about an Extended transition anyway. It's more likely that I'll look at it for any new projects I start.

Sorry that we've got a bit off topic here. I will be updating the British Trains download soon, because I've changed several of the relevant graphics since the last update.

As I said on the other topic - there will be some updates forthcoming soon but Class 385s are probably some way off.

Post by: Carl on January 31, 2019, 07:58:25 PM
Download the new version of the British Trains add-on here (https://www.dropbox.com/s/i5c6pdjdq4ori8i/British%20Trains%20January%202019.rar?dl=0).

This includes all sources and pak files for Standard and Experimental (which will presumably work with Extended although they don't include all new features). They aren't economically balanced so you'll need to make some adjustments there if you want to use them in an economic simulation.

Updates since last time include:
- Class 700 added
- Class 707 added
- Class 387 (Great Northern) added
- Class 150 (GWR) added
- Southeastern classes 375 & 376 added
- SWR Class 455 updated

Hi Scotrail,

We're all doing this in our (often very limited) spare time and usually aren't able to respond rapidly to requests for new work. I would urge patience and not asking over and over as this can annoy people. If you want to get it more quickly, a safer bet might be to learn how to create these graphics and paks yourself. All of us started from scratch and the basic tools involved are quite simple - an image editor like GIMP for the pngs, a text editor like Notepad++ for the dats, and then makeobj for creating paks.

Right, I have made a couple of Class 317 liveries (all from 2010 to the present day) that are available here (https://www.dropbox.com/sh/05418mjpkoe7h81/AACLRByQol2fXvrQg9YnD3tma?dl=0).

The liveries are the first NXEA scheme (white with dark grey doors and metallic slashes on each coach end, and the one I'm least happy with), the second NXEA scheme (just white with dark grey doors; I don't think 317s carried this livery IRL, but it's there if you want to use it), FCC (the one I'm most pleased with personally), Great Northern, and London Overground. I will make the other liveries carried historically as soon as I can.

I've completed the next set of 317 liveries here (https://www.dropbox.com/sh/8uu6ax24aq5xe2r/AABE-5i6gHRJXcAcigWv6i8ra?dl=0).

The liveries I've done are: BR Blue, the first WAGN livery (white with red doors and the blue stripe at the bottom, and a yellow/dark grey front), the second WAGN livery (purple with white doors), ONE rainbow stripes, the first Stansted Express livery (light blue with white doors and a dark blue stripe), and the second Stansted Express livery (darkish blue with grey doors). I have also provided a modified version of FCC, Great Northern and London Overground liveries, which have a more realistic front end.

I haven't done NSE yet as it's a bit of a pain to get it done to a decent standard.

I may also be willing to take some requests.

I may start livery producing for this pakset as it seams not as challenging as when you have to make liveries for the pak128-britain pakset using blender which I have in the past attempted to do and admittedly was able to produce some liveries but certain other aspects I could not manage so therefore thats why I stopped attempting to make liveries for the pak128-britain pakset.

I think Carl provided a link somewhere either in this thread or the GB Map thread - I'm not quite sure where. I keep all my pak64 stuff in one folder, so if you can't find them anywhere else then I can send you it (with a few extras).

On a side note, would someone else be willing to compile the .png files I've uploaded (the 317 set, the 387 and the 321, as well as a 230 and 350 I have) into .pak files? Makeobj isn't working properly for me (it makes a .pak file, but it is only 1KB and doesn't put the trains into the pakset). I will write .dat files for the trains as well if you are willing to do this. Thanks.

They did from May last year to May this year - as a stopgap to run electric trains from Waverley-Queen Street and Dunblane while the delays to the 385s were going on. They were stored in Crewe/parts of Scotland when enough 385s were delivered.

I'm very interested in this thread and would like to draw any British train.
I have confidence in drawing how complex designed vehicles in pak64 size.
(And I developed the special tool that change liveries easily, so I can draw many colour patterns quickly!)
Please tell me train class never made as addon and I'll try to draw.

Thank you.

Hi Takamaro

This set is a mish-mash of vehicles created over the last six years or so, and while there is some consistency of style, the quality varies quite a lot (hopefully getting better over time). Pantographs are very inconsistent though.

The more recent files in the download (https://www.dropbox.com/s/i5c6pdjdq4ori8i/British%20Trains%20January%202019.rar?dl=0) should provide better aligned templates, but there is no one base template.

In addition to the vehicles I've made for my big GB map, there are a bunch of trains painted by other authors dotted throughout this thread.

FWIW the new London vehicles (Classes 345/717/710) are on my to-do-soon list so you should see these in the next main release.

Hi, Carl. Thank you your replying!

I look into the source of image, I could make images for this pakset more freely maybe.
For example, the pixel size of width is different from authors between 5 - 7 pixels.

If I can use 6-pixels for width, I express the trains’face more expressive.
I'll draw the trains of British Rail using my template for Japanese trains.

Thanks.

I draw(made) new images file for trail.
(But it's Class 100 of Japan National Railway, sorry...)

First, I draw the image of shape definition.

Second, I draw the image of liveries and weathering expression.

Finally, Merge two previous images by my original tool.
The result is following.

I draw three step for each train by class, add liveries patterns more easily.
But I regret developed this tool by Japanese,
If you are interested in this tool or technique about merging, I'll translate this tool in English.
The UK trains have many liveries. Maybe, This tool are helpful for drawing livery patterns more efficiently.

Hi.

I'm sorry for delaying the translation of tool. Resource Bundle is too difficult for me....
(I would not like to brunch for English version....)

Instead, I draw the new cars of BR Class195 of northern colored.
I attach all images created process of this work.

The result image is following.

The images before merging are following.

Possible to improve these?
(I have the DAT files)

Oh, and make a good decent looking 385 (My repaints were OK, but didn't represent 385s well.)

I draw new image of BR Class385.
It's very difficult to drawing...and there is the limitation of my technique.

I'm glad your merging.

These are indeed very nice drawings of these trains and hopefully with more high quality stuff like this trains will look as real as possible.  ;)

Topic seems to have gone strangely quiet... I'll be cracking on with unbranded EMUs representing those going/gone off lease.

There were some new trains put into the main GB map, although they haven't been added into this pack nor have their sources been released yet.

In fact the most recent update post above should be fully up-to-date with trains from the GB map. Let me know if anything appears to be missing.

Hi,there.

How about locomotives for freight service?
In Japan, There are many locomotives for each environment and reasons about freight service. I think the same circumstances about freight service in GB and Japan.

I make an effort to study of expression of weathering, Adding locomotives will make your map more richly.

Freight locomotives would be a good thing to look at - I've only ever done a couple of those because I've focused more on passenger services.

It's a good one. Is the 'like' button working for anyone else? I tried to use it above but couldn't.
