Title: SimuTranslator site
Post by: Frank on October 23, 2008, 11:26:37 PM
the new adress from SimuTranslator is

simutranslator.simutrans-germany.com (http://simutranslator.simutrans-germany.com)

or

simutrans-germany.com/translator/ (http://simutrans-germany.com/translator/)

new futures

- new option User Reference Language in Preferences

(http://simutrans-germany.com/translator/images/user_pref_lang.jpg) (http://http://simutrans-germany.com/translator/images/user_pref_lang.jpg)

- this show than in page 'Edit Texts'

(http://simutrans-germany.com/translator/images/new_text_edit.jpg) (http://simutrans-germany.com/translator/images/new_text_edit.jpg)

Statistics shows only translators in the state have 'active'.

I import the texts from pak64 (SVN - not food and waste) and pakHAJO in the next days.

http://translator.simutrans.com/ (http://translator.simutrans.com/) should be updated to reflect this, because it still points the user someplace else - a different DNS alias entry for translator.simutrans.com should do the job in the easiest way.

Weird I have problem logging in my account in this new translator website, it works fine with the old one and in Tomas Kubes's one too but whenever I login with my account password and username it keep saying login failed.

Wasn't this addressed in Napik's email to all translator users?

Thanks, I must have miss the mail or accidentally delete it. I have a habit of not checking my mail frequently, oh and Franks thanks for activating, I now should have plenty of time to translate for Simutrans since I am now in school holiday all the way to next year.
Title: Re: SimuTranslator site
Post by: LondonBVE on October 27, 2008, 11:10:33 AM
I noticed one problem that I could not get past and that is if I were to click on "\nCan't open heightfield file.\n" instead of taking me to a translation page it will give me SQL Error.

SQL error : You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 't open heightfield file.\n' AND p.having_version_version_id='0'' at line 1

Because of this I need to frequently use the Object guide to get around it since edit text and browse text will bring me back to first object to translate.

These text cause sql error too.
Maybe, "'" is the problem.

Sorry, what due you mean? Download gives me a correct file, at least for german, english and japanese, as far as I checked it. The text are the one from the last working backup (5.10.08).

Please, specify the error.

(If you mean errors in something else than base text: pak64 is not current on translator. I need a nightly from 5.10. or 4.10 or so to get the latest backup to compare.)

There is one problem.

Japanese keyboard help contains < br > tag, because Japanese text don't fit window.
But unfortunately, all texts after first < br > tag are disappeared.

Ok, fixed now.

I reimported them several times. THere are also less than 25 entries missing, thus it seem not that there was great loss since october.

Hi!
They are somewhere available actual source codes of SimuTranslator? Maybe I can help to improve Translator.
I see only source codes in Translator documentation (http://www.simutrans-germany.com/translator/doc/), but they are very old and poor...

when VS upload the pak128 source files
Please do not translate pak128 yet!
I am still uploading the whole set, it will take long to split it into many pieces :(

I won't upload gui stuff, grounds, pedestrians or citycars since they are useless for translation purposes.

Also: I will nuke the homemarket! AAAAARGH! I swear that *#$%%@ thing has more images than the whole internet. This is the seventh time I have to split upload again because of that… that… thing!

EDIT: I broke it... apparently :( I get either blank screen or no images are updated when uploading things.

The object Moebelhaus can not be overwritten - no big loss. But there is some problem with Trolleybus_electrification it seems. Or maybe all catenary objects are damaged?

Also I can't upload houses. They are on the exactly same sheets as exported from translator earlier, and can't be imported. Blank screen.

Should I cut them all apart?

This happens by limiting the running script.

Either import as dat-only or split the file.

Com is import dat-only.

Guys, could I maybe get some help here quickly?
It's ok to edit pak128 now?
And I just wana make sure I do it the right way.
So for instance:

Edit Translation for Object: factory_fish_pond_details
Set pak128, type dummy_info, copyright:

Lets say i would like to translate this the correct translation should be formated as follows:?

fiskdamms_fabrik_detaljer

?

1) Now I can't log in to the translator. But I could do so initially after its move to Frank's server.
2) Many Pak128 objects that I checked are without any translations, so there are still entries missing.
(e.g. start at "Cement", and navigate in either direction)

=> IMHO: not usable yet for Pak128.

One silly question, why translator.simutrans.com does not redirect to simutranslator.simutrans-germany.com/? I've to pass by 3 sites until I find the right one...

Back to the object guide improvement, the filter is a good idea but the way the info is shown is quite messy. It's difficult to see something among so many letters together. My suggestion is to use a table to show the results of the filter.

Thanks very much for this feature, Frank!

EDIT: There are some problems with translations. When you select any language different from english and then you enter in any object to edit the translation, the rest of translations from other languages look strange, as if it was something due to page encoding (ISO-8859-1).

To reproduce it, change interface language to spanish (es) and then enter to edit any object. I guess that happens the same with all. It's really not important because the translation in the language your are translator is shown correctly. Furthermore it only happens with some languages like japanese, Belaruskaja, russian, svenka or chinesse and with some special characters from other languages (accents like á or à in French) Is possible to fix it?

You mean you lost the translation or you can't translate that word because it does not appear in the list? AFAIK, prissi (and other pak mantainers too) sometimes remove some words so perhaps that's the case, however I wouldn't discard the database issue.. :-\

The clear block and several else were deleted by me since those are no longer in use. Unfourtunately those reappeared once. I also deleted many useless translations (wrong factory_details stuff in case of japanese) and also many unwanted translations like "Small building" or "Residence RES 18_01".

This is one of the many maintenance task that make real releases so much painful work.

I have the list of wrong/too many at home. I will attach it in the evening.

A little question:

In "$LNG_FORM[44]", it's "not Help files found" as master translation. The correct would not be "no Help files found"?

What is the exact procedure to get an account on simutranslator?

When I go to login, there is a link to contact SimuTranslator Admins (http://simutrans-germany.com/translator/script/contact.php), which opens absolutely nothing and goes nowhere!?????

I have noticed that croatian translation (Hrvatski) is totaly unfinished. It is mixed with croatian and hungarian words ?!!!!!
In game texts also show half croatian and half hungarian.
102.2. has wrong translation, even 102.2.2 is totaly wrong. Maybe somebody started to translate (obviously from hungarian as the base) and never finished?

As croatian is my native language, and I also speak fluently german and english, I would be willing to repair the translation.

Or would the better way be, to send translated in-game text files to somebody, i.e. via e-mail?

After viewing a diff of the .tab files (base and pak64 texts from 102.2.2), I reckon that the reason for the mix-up is an erroneous fill-up import of HU translation into HR, because there are many regions with exactly the same translation texts. So, there is no work going to be lost when you or anyone else overwrites the incorrect translations.
Also, the language exports for HR and HU show no authors beside Frank (administrator). Does this mean that there aren't any active translators for these languages?

Thanks. I received the login data and successfully changed my login password.

EDIT: I gave myself a push, sat down for three hours (21:00-00:00 MET) and rechecked and retranslated croatian base texts. There were some serbian constructions inside coratian translations... 99% procent re-translated.

I tried the new translations against Simutrans 102.2, and now it makes more sense (in-game text is really croatian, not hungarian).

After that, I had a crazy idea and rechecked Croatian translations from 101 & 99 Simutranses (which I happened to have in my archive). I noticed, that 99.11. had first "hr" translations (in my collection). I have no 99.10., and 99.09. seems to still not have had "hr" language...

99.11. says:
Quote
#                                   authors:                                   #
#                             Gordan Adzic - Mrvca                             #

100 is the same.
The mixup seemd to have happened in in V101 indeed... At once, there are hungarian texts&roatian texts mixed and copyright changed...

It seems, I did some nonsense job (as there was already fully working croatian version), albeight I think I have now translated some new features, which were unpresent in V100...

Anyway, one could compare my translations to the V100  ones, and see, If I made errors, and if there were some better formed translations...

To tired now, going to sleep...

I tried to send a message to SimuTranslator admins, but the browser stalled trying to do that....

"I have translated SimuTranslator GUI texts (into Croatian) using the SimuTranslator itself.

However, this can not be selected in the language menu, so I cannot test the correct word combinations and possible tweaks to the translation.

Is it posible to enable "Croatian | Hrvatski" in the language selection Menu for SimuTranslator GUI itself?

Many thanks in advance."

, so I am not sure, if this works as it should...

Hopefully somebody who can do this will read this...

mEGa, translation of graphic sets with repository on sourceforge.net cannot be translated in this way

... - but it is very bothering that it can be done only via SVN file accesses. I would be very glad if translations of graphic sets with repository on SF would be translated back via SimuTranslator.

So, in this case I would like to request for SVN access, my username on SF is the same to local - but in lowercase.

There's a problem in Simutranslator:

I noticed in "Build urban buildings" dialog that COM_01_04 uses the same graphic of COM_12_04.

Is it intended?

PAK64 rev. 673

I think Prissi already fixed this problem in the pakset, but in Simutranslator, the problem persists. I suspect the object COM_12_04 is using the wrong graphic.

They are unnecessary:

The *extern, *suburb, *center are used to name new halts.

CITY_SYLL is used to generate random city names (if no city_list is present): One of %*CITY_SYLL + one of &*City_SYLL

It is possible to lock individual language translations.

The expansion of lock individual objects makes it rather expensive and above all confusing.

This page lists all the untranslated objects that exist with the same name in other sets, and there are translations.

There you have the option of matching texts of other sets in their legitimate language to take over.

Ìs actually anyone still around who knows how Simutranslator works and can maintain the code as Simutrans advances and/or add new features?

There are several new features which probably mess up the part about uploading images - most of all Dat-Shortening, but potentially Alpha-Channel, and that considered patch about case-sensitivity (http://forum.simutrans.com/index.php?topic=16855.0) would cause problems too, since it tells people not to care about case sensitivity anymore.
Furthermore, SimuTranslator shows the dat-file and you can even edit the values and save them. It seems a lot as if SimuTranslator was once intended to not only have a language database, but also save all dats and images. Add an export-button or even a 'create pakset'-button and you'd have a genius tool for maintaining a pakset. Except, of course, for it's low speed.

So is there anyone still around who can operate on SimuTranslator and is willing to add new features if needed/requested and would be allowed to do it? Or is it just some ten-year-old software that you can use as-is, but no more?
Title: Re: SimuTranslator site
Post by: prissi on April 12, 2017, 01:45:22 PM
The simutranslator will just ignore any image it does not find, but still import the entry. Also it usually only imports (0,0), to save some space internally. It has limitations both in files size and running CPU time, hence it might not be able to upload large graphics.

The generate pakset function is not planned, as it would be very CPU heavy and also it maintains closed paksets. Also I think a proper revisiong system is better for working on a pakset than a database.

Although, I admid a simutranslator that pulls its data regularily from the divers SVNs would be nice to have ... But I think this would require fundamental changes, and until somebody want to invest very much in terms of programming time (and maybe also money for hosting such large files), that will never happen.

And Frankp pays for the server for a long time, and he can (and did) add features and fix bugs. Like the help file preview, the suggestion function and many other stuff.

In the settings you can now specify the order of the enabled languages when editing objects.

This mainly concerns setadmins, which have all languages.

The option reaches so far unfortunately only after a relog.

github or sourceforge do no syntax checks

all manual edit files contain a lot of errors

a good example is:
https://sourceforge.net/p/simutrans/code/HEAD/tree/pak128.Britain/text/en.tab

maybe you cant see the errors, but just this is the problem

Edit: no good example anymore. I have correct the file.

How can I register in the SimuTranslator?
If you are now in progress to prepare the update and fix the automatic mail system, I would wait for it...

Zou can send me an email and I can register zou. You need to supply a username and a password, at least, together with the languages zou want to translate too.

I have a japanese and a german keyboard, which swapped Z and Y. And the keys to swap the encoding are next to windows and left and right of the tiny space bar on the japanese keyboard. Entering text blindly cause this frequently. Very sorry.

More on topic: User registration was probably brocken since the provider updated the python without announcement two weeks ago. Please be patient.

Dear uci and Phystam
I have created the user uci and Phystam in the Simu Translator suite.
Remember the user-id is case sensitive. Look in your PM.
The first thing you should do: change you password to your own password.

I have upload the pak128 from the SVN. Objects and Translation.
Translation are not overwritten if different, they are loaded as suggestions.

Someone should work on the suggestions.

However, I started editting the base texts without any declarations.
Should I announce what I would translate before starting?

If unsure on a certain item, or this the text of z9999 needs replacement, then feel free to use suggestions too (at least for basic). I usally scan through them, and while my japanese fomulation skills are not very good, I can read it well enough to see if it make sense in basics context.

I am afraid that I only know a few words of German, so will not be able to translate your draft, but I can help to draw a personal data notice (as the English translation of the GDPR calls what is commonly called a "privacy notice") in English if you would like.

the change affects Set Maintainter and Comaintainter

You can now create text objects directly in the Translator.

There you can also enter translations directly.
Either the languages of the language order setting are displayed or English at the moment.

Since nobody can or wants to explain, I try it with my bad English.

The SimuTranslator is a database that can be used to translate program texts and object names from Simutrans/Simutrans-Extended. Furthermore, the InGame help and scenarios can be translated. Some websites and the program Tilecutter (probably not now) have been translated. And the SimuTranslator itself can also be translated there.

Originally, the SimuTranslator 2004 was created by a group of people around Napik (then set maintainter of pak128). Since October 2008 I host and care for the code.

Main page is Search Objects & Texts (https://simutrans-germany.com/translator/script/directions.php). This page can be used to search for objects as well as translations. I can not say how up-to-date these object lists and the translations are, since most sets ignore the maintenance in the translator. For the maintenance of a set the time a maximum of 3 users are possible. These users must be familiar with the respective set and have access to its sources.

Via the export page (https://simutrans-germany.com/translator/script/main.php?page=wrap) the existing translations for the respective sets can be downloaded.

In order to help with the translations they do not have to be registered. You can also enter text suggestions unannounced. These must then be checked and accepted by registered users.

To stay up-to-date you can subscribe to the translator's RSS feed (https://simutrans-germany.com/translator/script/main.php?page=rssinfo).

The login at the translator on simutrans-germany.com is disabled.

The reason is that there are 2 publicly available translators. In order to avoid confusion and different databases, this step is necessary from my point of view.

I will not comment further.

One would assume that makes the other instance at makie.de/translator (http://makie.de/translator) the new default translator.

Title: Re: SimuTranslator site

The "other" translator is hardly the official one. At the moment there is not even a regular backup running, and the nightly server and many other pak sets assume that the translator is elsewhere.

Further comments at a later stage.

Please note that Frank has asked me to delete his account. For various reasons, I have not completely honoured his request - I prefer not to remove accounts. But I have changed his password, membergroup, and email address so that he cannot log in unless he requests those changed again. I do not know of his presence on our other Simutrans forums. I am sorry that this has happened. :(

Frank has given the Translator code to makie for internal use. makie did a lot of rewriting, however communication was not great between them. The pak128.german homepage contained a link to this new translator, but it was not intended to replace the current one. But the existence of this link was the spark which eventually triggered the departure of Frank from both forums.

Thus the future translator is apparently now at http://makie.de/translator

However, this one is still under development, since it was not really intended to become official. Moreover, alls script assume still the old explorer. (Also the full export is currently reworked.) The database of the makie translator is not the current one, so there may be recently added users missing.

I apologize for the confusion.

This is not the truth. Frank gave the Translator code for distribute addition historical information for the pak128.german to the player.
You can see here: (sorry a lot of german text)
 https://www.simutrans-forum.de/mybb/showthread.php?tid=8741
 https://www.simutrans-forum.de/mybb/showthread.php?tid=8741&pid=112061#pid112061
I did not remove the Code, for doing Translations, because i hope he take back the complete code and than the Translator do all the new things.
Some weeks ago he changed his mind and speaks form cooperation and help developing the Translator, speaks form test installation for internal use. He speak not to me, he speak so to prissi. He say nothing comes back from giving the code, but it seams, it was too much.
I think, he decided some weeks ago for him self, not take back any code for a Information System or historical information. He did not say anything, but starts doing a lot of changes on his code.  .... ... Ok i can talk a lot more about. If someone is interested in more details then please ask.

But think. It is not possible distribute addition historical information to the player with a internal use Server.
