Whenever I open the maglev tabs, it only has the 'remove maglev' tool, even when playing withot eras. Is this an oversight or a placeholder for future options?
Also, the fastest monorail track is 120 km/h. But several monorails have a higher topspeed? Why, if they can't possibly go that fast?

Correct, it is sort of a paceholder for the future - and is also required to enable the use of current add-ons.

Scud47, maglevs may be found on pages of SNFOS (http://www.simutrans-france.fr.nf/doku.php?id=fr:MLM_dev). And also here (http://ota.webz.cz/?p=depozit&m=plus&d=maglev).
Pages of SNFOS may be switched to English language, on those czech written pages it is needed to click on word Stáhnout.
For both train sets you need to download chain of nuclear powerplant (http://ota.webz.cz/data.plus/factory.chain/jaderny_prumysl_rc5.zip) or sources of both train sets and change dat files for freight cars and/or locomotives - to they would not be connected to that industry chain.
Sources for train set from pages of SNFOS is needed to download separately, sources for train sets from czech pages is downloaded together with playable files.
You may ask for help, if you decide to don't play with nuclear powerplant.
