Title: Airports - Runways, Taxiways, Planes and Buildings
Post by: An_dz on August 15, 2011, 09:30:40 PM
After the convertion of Zeno's plane to comic style (http://forum.simutrans.com/index.php?topic=7807.0). I've decided to create this topic to add planes, taxiways, runways and airport buildings. Anyone can add yours.

So here's a first screen of a testing I did, unfortunally it's not real. Cause the runway don't work on pak96.comic only on pak128.

I'm almost finishing a taxiway. I'm going to test it now to see if it works, or still crash.

EDIT:
It's working now and the taxiway is almost finished, just missing N,S,E,W.
Here's a screen and the pak files. PNG and DAT later.

EDIT2:
New download link, updated files.

I didn't like the taxiway, too dark.
But the runaway is perfect. My project is create 3 Airport types.
International Airport
Local Airport
Landing Zone

International is the one I've uploaded, for huge planes.
The landing zone is a grass airport, for small planes. I did something, but I stopped to create the International one.
And Local a not so sophisticate ways, less lights, more simple. For small local airports. And you runaway is perfect.

I would just say, remove the 6 white lines. Keep only the middle line. Add red and green lights on starting runaway. And sparse white lines on way side. The crossing image is not so cool.

You better use another site. The site you used don't work. I can't download.

And can you upload the sources?

Off-topic:
Your pak192 refrigeration truck is great.

Copied advice.

I also seem dark taxiways. but did not have any example ...

tomorrow I'll upload the source ... Now I have them here, because I'm not home ...

I have to find where to upload it.

Sorry my English is bad. because I speak Spanish.

Thanks for your attention ...

off-topic:
thanks for all the refrigerated truck.

Pak96.comic is quite strange in its style and so I am not sure I am not wrong with my following complaint on grassy taxiway: it would be good to see where it is - it is needed to place on sides something what would show it.
Title: Re: Airports - Runways, Taxiways, Planes and Buildings
Post by: An_dz on August 16, 2011, 05:49:36 PM
Yes, No worry. I already have a good idea for it, it'll be easy to find it. At day and Night, taxiways not so easy at night, but at day yes.

Here where I live, there are quite many grass landing zones. I know at least 5 around and all of them have some great elements that I'll implement.
-------
I'm not sure if a winter view is necessary for the International Airport Runway and Taxiway. Cause those places always are kept snow free. Except when heavy snowing, that's not the case, cause when this happens the airport is closed. I think only local airports can have a little snow on way sides.

I would also like to discuss the way prices. Here are my ideas:
Landing Zones:
Runway:80
Taxiway:65

Local Airports:
Runway:160
Taxiway:140

International Airports:
Runway:190
Taxiway:170

Post by: sojo on August 16, 2011, 06:36:20 PM
The prices should be not cheap. Your prices looks well, but some test are required.

To the snow: make only a few transparent (or snowpixels - so you don't see the ground in summer) pixels at the borders. So the snow will be on the sides.

@reytm2 Your links to the zipps are broken.

@all
Can i get the sorces (pngs)? And can I change your grafics, if it is necessary? All grafics must have the 96th comic standard. And this standard can change a bit from time to time. Of course, the copyright is yours and will remain yours!

Course sojo, here are the sources png and dat for the International Airport.
I omitted the max_weight on it for obvious purpose: International Airport can handle any planes.
It's updated, lots of glitches now corrected, I've updated the pak files on first topic.
And I left the winter images up to you sojo. Sorry, but I'm terrible on it.

And here's the Landing Zone Runway. The best is that no Winter images needed. Sources also available.
The pak file is attached too for anyone that just want to play with it.

Also I'm developing a Landing Zone Dirt Runway. There are some glitches I'm trying to correct. Sources later.

An_dz:

I think landing zones must have special taxiways.

because it does not make sense that are paved taxiways,  and runways not.

I know, I just didn't started a landing zone taxiway yet. So I used the Int. Air just to show the T crossing images.

Wow, that plane looks great! How did you draw it? I remember your other thread about the 747 where you mentioned that you took it from another pak. If so then please make sure that all those models you used are open source.
The planes together with your runways would be a huge addition to the existing pak96. I can't wait to see them implemented..
Title: Re: Airports - Runways, Taxiways, Planes and Buildings

That plane has been created in Xpaint and MSpaint ... hard work but worth the effort ...

inspire me in a DC-10 (MS Flight Simulator).

The B747 is not mine, is An_dz.

Sometimes I use PNGs other pack to guide me in the data, N, S, E, W. always open source.

The plane is looking awesome reytm2, is it 96px or higher?
It looks 96, and the size looks perfect.

So keep tuned Bergente, more ways, planes, stops/stations and buildings will come. And with reytm2 I think lot of new things will come.

Post by: An_dz on August 18, 2011, 11:23:08 PM
The plane is looking awesome as I said before, but there are some special colors problems, like: red and green wing lights don't lit at night and a strange light on top of the plane is lit.

I recommend change those colors to the right special colors, also change the red on the plane body with the player color. See this wiki page (http://simutrans-germany.com/wiki/wiki/tiki-index.php?page=en_SpecialColors) for more details.

Download Shades (http://forum.simutrans.com/index.php?topic=5389.0) reytm2 it will help a lot with it.
Edit: Forget, it's for Windows.

@An_dz
The international Runway have a problem. The numbers are wrong. In the South must be 18, in North 36, in West 27 and in East 09. At the moment we have in South 36, in North 18, in West 09 and in East 27.

Title: Re: Airports - Runways, Taxiways, Planes and Buildings

I am a little confused by reading of that numbering system - because it is the first when I read that there is some (international, official) system in it. I have thought before this while that those numbers are tied to each airport and number of its runways.

I would like to know more about it - Would you write exact link to pages where it is described?

-->
I found on Wikipedia (like you) probably similar text that is in my language - but I would like to be sure ...

Here are the wikipedia articles I've read:
Portuguese Wikipedia (http://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pista_de_pouso) Under Nomenclatura
English Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Runway) Under Orientation and dimension

A quotation from the important part:
Quote from: wikipedia
Runways are named by a number between 01 and 36, which is generally one tenth of the magnetic azimuth of the runway's heading: a runway numbered 09 points east (90°), runway 18 is south (180°), runway 27 points west (270°) and runway 36 points to the north (360° rather than 0°).[1] When taking off from or landing on runway 09, a plane would be heading 90° (east).

If there is more than one runway pointing in the same direction (parallel runways), each runway is identified by appending Left (L), Center (C) and Right (R) to the number — for example, Runways One Five Left (15L), One Five Center (15C), and One Five Right (15R). Runway Zero Three Left (03L) becomes Runway Two One Right (21R) when used in the opposite direction (derived from adding 18 to the original number for the 180 degrees when approaching from the opposite direction).

At large airports with more than three parallel runways (...) some runway identifiers are shifted by 10 degrees to avoid the ambiguity that would result with more than three parallel runways. For example, (...) At Dallas-Fort Worth, there are five parallel runways, named 17L, 17C, 17R, 18L, and 18R, all oriented at a heading of 175.4 degrees.

I'm not sure. Prissi write in the german forum: "Why in pak96.comic the sun shine from the north."

So I thought he means the numbers on runways. But I check this at frankfurt airport with google maps. And you can see 18 is in the north (direction south): http://g.co/maps/vfp38
Title: Re: Airports - Runways, Taxiways, Planes and Buildings
Post by: ӔO on September 12, 2011, 07:14:22 AM
Runway 36 means you are heading north, so your compass lines up at 360.
Runway 18 means you are heading south, so your compass lines up to 180.

On the runway markings ...

The number of head of runway. marks the radio to follow to get to it.

therefore a track that has 18 and 36 radial

The head 18 is in the north.
and 36 in the south.

This photo is an example of runways 17 - 35, is the airport in my city.

Following this theory, I think the runways are well marked.

this is the first view of the new air terminal ... is 3 x 1, I'm not sure if it's the right size for an extension.

I welcome your opinions.

3*1 as size of extension? I don't see any problem with it. I can imagine extension that would be much greater - but there may be very hard to make directions right.

I only don't understand that staircase - if it should be for people to they could watch airplanes (as it is on some airports), then it should be from that other side.

Also there are missing some doors to people could go into building.

And firefighters' car should go directly on taxiways and runways - so if that staircase is as it is, firefighters' car should not be visible because it will be on that other side.

Extensions with 3x2 or 3x4 or 3x1, ... must have a second rotation.

And I think the car is to big for the building.

@VaclavMacurek
The staircase is in the right place ... the view is oriented towards the taxiway. take the idea from a real airport.

I have another view created for part of the building overlooking the streets.

@Sojo
The truck is the same used in other air terminal ...you think that is big in height, depth, or in general?

I think the truck is to high for the building. Looks like the ceiling press on the car.

Increase the height of the door of the fire station.

I hope this does not see the truck crushed.

Hello

This time some additions to the airports ...

1- A wall to mark the limits of the airport (still in development).
2- Signals (oneway) for taxiways and runways.

Great additions.
What I found is that the wall don't look so good if built vertically. And the 4way cross have a white pixel on top right.

Yes, An_dz, i am at the moment smoothing off details ... i am finishing the final version ...

The image shows how they are displayed from several angles the wall to limits of the airports.

They are usable, I'm still doing a slow job on doing some more stops but you can use what's available here.
Just look if you are downloading the latest version or not. I've added the download below with everything.

For now we have this objects released:
5 Taxiways
4 Runways
1 Wall limiter
1 Hangar
1 One-way sign
2 Stations/Stops
5 Station/Stop Extension - Those 2 Control towers
7 Passengers Airplanes
1 Post Airplane
4 Cargo Airplanes - 3 open cargo, 1 liquid

Title: Re: Airports - Runways, Taxiways, Planes and Buildings
Post by: Josh on February 29, 2012, 07:37:47 PM
Well for smaller passenger aircraft you could do a De Havilland Dash 8-Q400 (74 passengers and 360kn) and a Bombardier CRJ 100 (52 passengers and 437kn). But for tiny trips Beech King Air B200 (13 passengers and 295kn)

For post aircraft I was thinking Cessna 208B Grand Caravan (about 150 post and 265kn)

For the cargo aircraft I think as the biggest it would have to be the Antonov AN-225 (460kn), but in general I would use the normal Boeing 777F (510kn), Boeing 747-8F (495kn) and a Airbus A320-200F (467kn)

By the way: Aren't the red/green lights wrong? I thought, green is on the right, red on the left to flying direction?

Thank you very much ...

I never really studied the specifications of the lights, I will investigate. If they are wrong, then you have to fix the lights in all aircraft created by me.   :)
------------------------------------------------------
In fact ... the lights are reversed,
left is the red
the green right.

thanks for the tip Alex ...

Yes, the Red light should be on the left wing, as viewed by the pilot.  ("Red, left, and port" are shorter words than "Green, right, and starboard" is an easy way to remember.)  See also, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Navigation_light

I have minor question on you, reytm2 and An_dz: Could you prepare one-way sign for taxiway?

I use this feature (one-way signs) in pak128 very often - to set runways separated for taking off and landing. In this way airports may accept and release more airplanes. And also, if each of them is built on opposite end of airport, airplanes can move along airport a little more fluent.

And so this feature is very missing for me, in this pakset.

Reytm2 already made them Vaclav, if you're using the 96comic Extension they're already in. But if you're using official 96comic, you can download the Airport pack here (http://forum.simutrans.com/index.php?topic=7829.msg82413#msg82413), all the objects posted after this post are not included, so you'll need to download them individually.

Thanks. I have main pakset - and expansion. Currently I am in year 1958.

I downloaded those addons - but it seems like it has later year of introducing into game. So I must ask which year it is.

It'll be available at 1965. We haven't finished the essential part of the airplanes yet.

If anyone is using the airplanes I would like to hear how is the balance of them.

Not only airplanes needs balance.
Hard to say. I think that at least I don't think that Cessna could transport 100 people. That postal Money Bravo could not transport 100 sacks of post. It is too much in both cases. But if you talk about changing of running of costs, I do't know.

Title: Re: Airports - Runways, Taxiways, Planes and Buildings
Post by: Václav on August 24, 2012, 05:08:55 PM
... I looked wrong ... both called planes are for post. That is quite strange - that in year 1958 are three planes for post but no one for passengers.

I'm fixing some of those problems, I've created a new oneway sign that will be available whit the first Landing Zones.
Plus I'm creating passenger versions of Money Bravo and Cessna Skyhawk. I've made some other fixes too.

Some time passed - and I have few questions/comments and one announcement.

1.: Could be possible to improve (set) retirement year for dirty taxiway and runway? I think that it would not be bad if in later years would be available only tar taxiway and runway.

2.: There is lack of post planes. There is good queue of passenger planes. But only two post and freight planes (in November of 1971). And it is really sad. Is possible that some post planes (and may be also freight) could be added?

3.: I looked into SVN and the first terminal should appear in February of 1970. I am in November of 1971 - but still without any terminal. As is written some messages before, I have installed Expansion (where it is) ... but really without any terminal.

4.: (announcement) I have three supersonic planes in work. Really it will be only one plane - but in three modes (like DC10 by Reytm2 - that is in two modes).

Planned technical data:
Intro year: 2010
Price: 50 000 000
Running cost: 0,01
Max speed: 5500 km/h
Capacity: unknown (must be set)

Why stop? I know some landing zones that were built in less than 2 years ago here. I just think that Simutrans should include the weight limit in airports. Just like experimental. Thus allowing only small planes to use them.

There are 3 post planes and 4 freight planes now.

The airport project was totally revamped, with lot of graphical and specification changes.
pak96.comic Expansion is older than SVN/Git, you need to compile by yourself what's on SVN. Some files won't be overwritten since names were changed.
It's easy to see that Expansion 001 don't have latest changes: just check the plane tail at night, if there's no white light they are old versions.
