Title: streetlist_en.txt
Post by: jamespetts on September 12, 2011, 10:43:40 PM
Following developments discussed here (http://forum.simutrans.com/index.php?topic=7926.0), I have made a list of 431 local stop names. I have not yet had time to check/test whether this exceeds the maximum; if anybody knows whether it does, I should be grateful to know.

I hope that this is helpful.

I think there's a typo in one line.
"M%$1s ott Square %$2s"
probably should read "%$1s Mott Square %$2s"

Thank you for spotting that - corrected version, now with a total of 469 names, attached.

Has anyone got this new list actually working in-game?  Using ST Standard (latest nightly), and Pak128.open.r527, I just get the same problem that Mark (archchancellor) mentions here:  http://forum.simutrans.com/index.php?topic=7926.msg76312#msg76312 (http://forum.simutrans.com/index.php?topic=7926.msg76312#msg76312)

From further reading, I believe you need to change, for example, "%$1s High Road %$2s" to "%1$s High Road %2$s" to work with the translator.  That is, put the numeral before the "$", not after.

Doing this, I was able to get the list to work in Standard/128, subject to the string-length problems mentioned later on in the other thread.

Apologies if James's file works well in pak128.Britain or in the newest Experimental already, but if not, here's the file that works for me (you'll need to rename it to "streetlist_en.txt"): http://simutrans-germany.com/files/upload/reversed_streetlist_en.txt (http://simutrans-germany.com/files/upload/reversed_streetlist_en.txt)

[PS Dumb question, I know, but can someone tell me how to hide the url address in links when posting on the forum.  So that a word or phrase is the link but the whole http isn't in the message body?]

Infernal Machine,

thank you for that correction: there are no changes to this code in Experimental, so that was my error. I have updated my local copy to match your text.

Thanks, sdog, for the info.  Much appreciated.

James, the list is impressive.  How did you come up with so many names?

As of Nightly 4813, the names appear correctly without the extra letters.

Hmm, I just think of plausible sounding names and don't stop until the list is rather long... glad that you like it!
