setting button on new game start

Playing Pak 128 for some time but just recently noticed the setting button as part of the new game start screen. Are changes to simuconf made here only for the new game or will they change for all games new and saved?

That depends on your simuconf.tab. Things not set there will be overwritten next time your start. You can outcomment most in your simuconf.tab with a leading '#'.
