Single-height bridges

Huitsi just kindly explained to me how to build single-height bridges (put them on flat ground, with no roads underneath). I didn't even know that is possible. I frequired, dig underneath afterwards. Anyway, we can build double-height by pressing CTRL or flat pressing nothing and single-height seems missing somehow. It seems counter-intuitive. Shouldn't there be an option?
