Upgrading city houses

Hello, I was just wondering if it was possible to upgrade city houses. For example, in my Pak256.America, I have a colonial era house, well later on, I want to fence in the backyard and maybe add a tree, would it be possible to just upgrade this building instead of getting rid of it a replacing it?

That is an eventually planned feature, but this will require major work.
