Tunnel Elevation

Say I want a tunnel to go from an elevation of 0 to -1. How can I make the tunnel change elevation?

Hold ctrl and build the tunnel. That will create the tunnel portal only.
Switch to underground wiev.
Use the artificial slope tool on the tunnel tracks. This will create a slope in the tunnel
Connect the tracks under ground.
Done.
