On the Steam start page, there is a text that serves as the first description of the program. The text is missing a German translation.
I think this state is not acceptable. But who should translate, it if not me. So I started translating the text.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/434520/Simutrans/

The english text is not good either. Keep in mind, this the first text someone reads. Who probably doesn't know anything about Simutrans.

And so I came across to a question.
The first question at Simutrans is which Pakset should I play.
The information that there are different packages is important.
The most important Paksets should be listed. And if possible in short words, add important informations to compare the sets.

Of course, this is partly a matter of taste and personal opinion, and just there is the problem.

There are several graphics packages

Before you start the game, you have various graphics packages (Pakset, Pak for short) to choose from. There are 64, 128, 192 this means the tile size in pixels. The more pixels per tile, the more details the graphics can show. Each packset offers a different play style and level of difficulty. It is advisable to try the different paks as each player has different preferences.
  • Pak64 The first Pak for Simutrans. It is deliberately kept compact. It can be expanded with addons. Easy graphics, medium difficulty.
  • Pak64.German takes Germany as model. Graphics: realistic, level of difficulty challenging but balanced.
  • Pak128 Covers all climates from desert to tundra. Vehicles mixed internationally. Graphics realistic, difficulty level medium, somewhat unbalanced.
  • Pak128.German Limited to Germany. Graphics: realistic and complex, degree of difficulty rather simple, but extensive. Complex supply chains in the movement of goods.
  • Pak128.Britain takes England as model. Graphics: rather simple and unobtrusive, stylistically uniform. Difficulty level ? ??.
  • Pak192.Comic graphics: special comic style, some details spiced with humor. Difficulty level: different from all other Paks.
  • some others There are some other packages that are not listed here because they are no longer maintained, are incomplete, or are still under construction.

The complete text of German translate can be read at: https://simutrans.net/index.html.de

If you say: Oh this looks like Translator. Yes it is. Look here https://translator.simutrans.com/script/edit.php?obj_id=143703
There can be done suggestions and translations in other language also. If someone wants to contribute.

I think your concerns are valid. More information about the existence of paksets, and differences between them, is always better for new players. I will change the current translation of:

  • Graphics Packages (Paksets)
In Simutrans you have multiple choices from the beginning to the end. Even before starting the game you have lots of graphics packages to choose from, every pakset giving you a different experience and play style.
To the one you provided (slighty changed).

QuoteSeveral graphics packages to choose from

Before you start the game, you have various graphics packages (also called "Pakset", or "Pak" for short) to choose from (available on Steam as free DLC or as Workshop items). Paksets have a number (64, 128, 192) which stands for the tile size in pixels. The more pixels per tile, the more detailed the graphics are. There is a pakset for every player, as each pakset offers a different play style, theme and level of difficulty. Here is a short description of every pakset available as DLC:

  • Pak64: Pak64 was the first Pak for Simutrans. It is deliberately kept compact. It can be expanded with addons.
    - Graphics: Retro.
    - Difficulty: Medium.
  • Pak64.German: Pak64.German takes Germany as model.
    - Graphics: Realistic.
    - Difficulty: Challenging, but balanced.
  • Pak128: Pak128 covers all climates from desert to tundra. Vehicles mixed internationally.
    - Graphics: Realistic.
    - Difficulty: Medium, somewhat balanced.
  • Pak128.German: Pak128.German is limited to Germany. Complex supply chains in the movement of goods.
    - Graphics: Realistic and complex.
    - Difficulty: Simple, but extensive.
  • Pak128.Britain: Pak128.Britain takes England as model.
    - Graphics: Simple, unobtrusive, and uniform.
    - Difficulty: ???
  • Pak192.Comic: Pak192.Comic offers the highest tile size, with a special comic style and some details spiced with humor.
    - Graphics: Vibrant, simple, comic styled.
    - Difficulty: Different from all other paksets.
  • Others: There are more paksets, but they are not listed here nor available as DLC, because they are no longer maintained, are incomplete, or are still under construction.

This is very helpful; thank you for this! Hopefully this makes easier for others to contribute Steam translations. I will add german translation now*.

*I first need to convert HTML to BBCode because that's what Steam uses, really, just like the forum.

Thank you for your work.  :)

If we get mass of contribution, then we can think about a automatic BBCode export.

Need more space and the space in Steam for this text is limited.  :-[
But this is only a note from me, i like the german structure more, but it is your decision.

Please move the text: for Pak128.german

Yes. Steam doesn't allow adding more padding :-( Also using sublists is more confusing, since the style is the same as lists, only difference is some minor padding. That's why I used "-" instead.
But I think having Difficulty and Graphics separated from description makes more recognizable the differences between paksets than having them mixed with the description.

Of course that's a matter of taste. I don't want to force any structure to translators, so do as you like.
