Docking at wrong port

This must be very old, but still...

On the Transshipment server a competitor built a dock right next to mine. A while later I realized that my line had a stop in the wrong colour in the list. The sea tile in front of my port counts as docking for both ports, and the port to dock at switched to his port when he built it. I fixed it by removing the stop from the schedule and adding it again (the same tile).

Perhaps it should not be allowed to build a port adjacent to another player's port?
