TikiWiki sign-up appears impossible?

The TikiWiki uses OpenID to manage account sign-ups and logins.

The traditional OpenID ecosystem appears to be dead or dying, unfortunately. I had access through Stack Exchange, but apparently that ended in July 2018. The link for accessing OpenID from my Google Accounts is dead.

The TikiWiki "What is OpenID?" link points to https://doc.tiki.org/OpenID. It refers people on to http://openid.net/get/, which is a dead link, and I can't find anywhere on the OpenID Foundation site that enables you to get a traditional OpenID account of the kind our TikiWiki seems to expect. They instead recommend using OpenID Connect, which appears to be a wrapper or rebrand of OAuth.

The tiki.org page says OpenID functionality was removed from the TikiWiki software in version 25,  which was released in December 2022, although it is apparently possible to restore it by installing another library.

Andarix, Frank, and Roboron have been able to make edits to the wiki this year, so it appears that there is some way for existing users to log in.

But I don't know how I (or any new users) can log into or sign into the TikiWiki.

As far as I know, the free registration has been disabled because a lot of spam accounts have been created.

However, you can use the contact page to reach the admin, who can then create the account.

That's frustrating for everyone, include the wiki admins who I guess had to waste a lot of time killing spam. Thank you for your work.

Unfortunately, it is impossible to complete the captcha on the contact page. The code has 10 characters, but the input field is limited to 8 characters.

I will try sending an email to the admins.

Frank or another admin has kindly responded promptly so I now have an account, yay!

By the way, the TikiWiki has the toughest password creation rules I've ever encountered and you can only discover them by trial and error. I don't mind as I understand the admins wanting to minimize spam accounts and it's not a big inconvenience. But allow yourself a few minutes if you need to change password!
