Is there any addons for Simutrans-Extended?

Here's the average big city in Extended:

For some reason, Extended always generate rectangular cities unless there is terrain blocking it. Dull enough, the buildings all look the same and even in 2023, there are no high-rise buildings.

Like in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bz1upe8f9P4, T G suggested that copying the paks from pak128.japan will help spicing up the map. But when I tried it last night, it simply won't load. Is there any currently working ways to make Simutrans-Extended more interesting to look at? Older versions are also appreciated. However, I don't really want to use the pak256 set because it doesn't feature high speed trains and subways.

The learning curve in Extended is already very steep that many new players refrain from playing it. The dull graphics will further de-motivate the players. We always want to build something satisfying, not some very large and repetitive networks.

I think pak192.comic has much nicer houses.

Yeah, but it doesn't support Extended. I prefer playing pak128.german (Standard) as it's now a very sophisticated pakset, especially in terms of industry chain. The graphics also looks even more realistic.

Currently, the only paksets that supports Extended are pak128.Britain, pak128.Sweden, pak256.Japan and (hardly) pak64 and pak64.german.

Happily, this has changed. pak192.comic now has an Extended version. You can get the February release here and there are even addons, available here. However, p192c doesn't yet make full use of all of Extended's features. For example, last time I played most vehicles didn't have comfort ratings.

I didn't know about pak64 and pak64.german.

I have to agree that the graphics are gorgeous. It would be great to have it in Extended one day, but we are such a small community...  ::'(
(Signature being tested) If you enjoy playing Simutrans, then you might also enjoy watching Japan Railway Journal

If you put suitable signals into a pakset, almost any standard pakset should work with extended; if not, rebuild it using an extended makeobj should at least load the objects.

Donald C.

Yeah, so how should I put the right signals to the pakset? It's not clear which .pak is related to signals.

If I found more time, i will build a version for extended. There are some interesting features in extended. But i fear, the project had a low priority in my to do list.

As Prissi said, the first step is just build the pak with the makeobj of extended.

The signals could be variants of the current signals (e.g. add some signs or so) or copy graphics from pak128.britain extended.
