Should we add artist info to the music.dat file as well?

Phystam

Yes, if you can add, please use the composers' name on 1st one.
Or, should I upload the composer list ?

I am new to the forum. I have contributed several songs to Simutrans in the past.

I recently updated Simutrans to 124, and noticed that my BGM is not playing properly. Is it possible to update and replace the MIDI file?

"Salty Breeze": no problem at all.
"Techno-Movement": rhythm track is misinterpreted as a melody track.
"Last Sunday": Rhythm track is misinterpreted as melody track.
"Snowy Road": Bell tones are out of tune (this may be a problem with the default SF2 file).
"Dreamy Oriental Nights": strings a little too loud.

I include a new midi file if you provide it. I just included the midi files into the distribution as I recieved them without editing.

I think the file music.tab is incorrect.

These are the songs I have fixed. The five songs mentioned above should be included.
They are basically "fixes", but with slightly improved arrangements. I believe that only an attentive listener would care about.

I have verified that they play correctly on the game, but it would be nice if you could give it a once-over before including it in the release build to make sure there are no mistakes. Especially those who uses Mac or Linux environment.

BTW, some of the music (including some I did not provide) sounds terrible on recent version of Simutrans. (e.g. No.2, No.8, No.41).

This is probably because the default SoundFont has a less than optimal volume balance. Basically, the piano and strings are loud, and some guitars and synths are very quiet.

IMO the quickest solution is including a more listening-specific Soundfont; for example "GeneralUser GS" is free, well balanced, only 32MB, and (unusual for this kind of SoundFont) made entirely of legally curated audio(they said so). But is there a licensing issue to include it in Simutrans?

I think any other solution would require a bit more work....

wow, this is exciting, I'm going to try it with my favorite soundfont, even though that one weighs almost 300 mb  8)
