Hi, I just did a fresh install of Simutrans Extended on my Windows 11 device, wanted to play with the Britain pak, and it always freezes when generating the game. With Sweden pak it works fine. Both paks came with the install. Where is the issue?

Thanks

Welcome to the forums!

Can I check that the game has actually frozen, or whether it is just taking a long time to generate the map? Map generation on a game like this can be a lengthy process - if Task Manager is showing high CPU usage, it has probably not actually frozen, but is probably simply taking a long time to generate the map.

I tried to wait longer, and it is really slow, kind of weird slow compared to OpenTTD where 2048*2048 map generates faster than 256*256 map here... Another weird thing is that Sweden pak is faster than Britain one but idk if this is just due to it being lighter.

This does not appear to be a bug - generating a map can take a very long time for larger maps. The Swedish pakset has much less content than the British pakset, which may well explain the lower times.

Two things that have been pointed out so far as being computationally expensive to generate maps are growing large cities to the required size and generating rivers.
In other words, reducing the number of large cities and the number of rivers can significantly reduce the time it takes for a map to be generated.

I haven't looked too closely into the number of industries, but this tends to spawn more industries than the set number.
