We're evaluating a replacement for the forum, and you can join the open beta at https://simutrans.forum/

If it is approved by current admins/devotees, at some point we will move the forum there. Details are still being worked out, and I still need to get categories set up.

But there's a lot to like - the new forum (assuming it will be) runs Discourse, a modern forum system that is mobile-friendly, much easier to post - you can copy/paste with formatting. It also supports Markdown, and pasting images. There's a lot to like.

So go check it out!

It'll probably be replacing this forum. But don't worry, we'll either leave this up and running (perhaps locked, perhaps disabling new user registration - we haven't settled on the details yet) if we don't import the data directly.

If there is any way of porting over the existing posts, that will make a big difference. Not being able to continue an old thread when further development occurs will be a major cost.

One method for moving to the new forum could be to just disable new registrations here, but otherwise leave it active.

I'm not sure how well importing data might work, but I will look at the possibility.
