Game Starts Up with a blank screen

Today when I try and startup Simutrans (124.1/r11272), I get a minimized window, and when I maximized it, its just a black screen that never loads. everything was thing last night, and I verified the integrity of the games files, but nothing changes it. Interestingly, Steam's UI still works fine (mostly).

Also, When I opened file explorer, I noticed in quick access that the background of the Simutrans Steam folder was black, something I have never seen anything like. Any ideas?

You could try the plain windows installer https://sourceforge.net/projects/simutrans/files/simutrans/

Try disabling the Steam UI for the game (right click in the library -> properties -> general). Sometimes it makes the game do Stranger Things.
