How should the "Hans Groper" monument be understood??

Hello everybody,

today I stumbled over an statue, I've never noticed before and left my me questioning it's meaning and purpose.

I hope you guys might help me understand it right.
Just recently I started to get to know the pak128 world. I'm amazed about all the many, many beautiful monuments that are included in this pakset. I like to read the descriptions of the monuments and enjoy learning whom their dedicated to and what the honored persons contributed to Simutrans..
Well, when I "studied" the concerning statue, I was left somewhat clueless how the description of the statue is to be understood and if, under given circumstances, these "praise" does belong to Simutrans.

As I'm not a native English speaker, I'm still not fully convinced, I understand the dicription and thus the purpose of this monument right.

So please help me get it right.
What do you understand, when reading this:

"This statue is in honor of Sir Hans Groper. He was the
subject of hundreds of sexual harassment cases and
helped women's rights activists to set precedents to get
several bills through the legislature."

It was meant to be funny, as most of these descriptions. It is a normal building, not a monument but it surely copied the style. The text is there since the start of the current version of simutranslator in 2018.

As to the text: Apart from containing the word sexual and the name, it is more in favour of what has become me too. But if you are very PC, this is of course not appropriate, especially to its female counterpart, the lady of the forum ...

This building will be rarely appear but for in the middle of skyscrapers. But I like the "lady of the forum" and will give her a "Knight of the line" to her side.

I think the only issue is that you could think it's a Simutrans monument to an actual person working on Simutrans. Otherwise, the description probably works for a significant portion of real-life-statues. Tack on a remark that it should be torn down (or, the Simutrans way, add the 'owner doesn't allow removal' snippet from when you try to remove another players stuff) and it's clear that it's not intended as praise.

Thank you for drawing this to the community's attention and for doing so in a polite & constructive way.

I have never seen this before (I very rarely play pak128), but I don't think this text has any place in Simutrans. Your concerns are entirely justified. In this pakset, the vast majority of building descriptions are intended to be amusing, but sexual harassment in itself is not funny. And this is going to be seen by people with varying levels of English comprehension (as the OP proves) without a lot of context. Using "hand groper" in a pun risks normalizing behaviour that was accepted by too many people just a few years ago. Even worse, most of the pakset's monuments are tributes to real people who have made valuable contributions to Simutrans. They deserve better than to be listed alongside this.

There is possibly a secondary reference to the fictional character Hans Gruber, but that doesn't make the problem go away.

I see that Prissi has also now posted. Thank you also for your quick and helpful response, Prissi. To add to your note on the timeline, the Git history say that the text has been there at least since the source was transferred from "the old SVN" in 2011-12. I do not agree with your interpretation but your last sentence suggests that you are open to changing this, in which case the interpretation of the current text does not matter.

I am better at analysing comedy than writing it    but could the English text use some kind of pun on "night bus" instead? Something like, "There are always people waiting for the knight Busse. Some of them merely want to get on in life, but others like to party until the dawn. He is always accompanied by his rapier, Witte."

My suggestion is of course released under the Artistic Licence if you choose to use it.

and thank you for all your responses so far 

I'm glad to get confirmed, that the description actually can be understood in a problematic way easily.
I get, the text is meant to be funny and in favor of the '#me too' movement, though I do not find it to neither match the usual humor of the Simutrans world nor to fit within this respectful and positive environment I got to know, both the game and this forum ().

I tried hard to understand the text as a reencouraging remark on the campaign against sexual harassment and violence, but failed to do so myself.
If the 'subject' of the court cases was an advocate against abuse, instead of an offender, I would immediately agree to it's side note, but as-is, find it awkwardly polarizing =S

The "Knight of the line" sounds like a really good match for the "Lady of the forum" 
And I will gladly help with the translations of the new text, if I can, as soon as it's ready.

The mentioned map I'm playing, unusually had three "Hans  Gropers" in small villages, so probably that's why it even caught my eye.

There is a (slight) resemblance in the graphic. But I don't see that the description fits nor adds any humor. Perhaps there is a comical description more fitting to the fountain somewhere. Further, the name could be more indicative that it is definitely a joke and not a monument.

If anybody please look at the English text on simutranslator: Tt is "denktrack" in pak128 and just have an English German and Japanese translation and the lady of the dorum is "denkforum". I think a monument to the forum and it contributors was anyway overdue.

I was able to add a Spanish, Italien and some other translations for both the Lady and the Knight

It look to me as though the statue is holding a sword, not relieving himself (or herself.... could be anyone inside that armour!).

The Japanese and English were there already for the Lady of the Forum in grey. I just changed it to male. And German is my mother toungue. So that was easy.
