Everyone on here seems to play Simutrans a little differently. I love creating maps with huge cities, using the public service to carve out subway tunnels, and then creating a metro/bus network trying to use as many stations as possible (without much overlap). I've been trying to teach myself to do vector graphics, especially with cartography, so I tried making a metro/bus map for my most recent game (attached). I didn't include station names. Metros are the colored lines - the game really isn't worth posting, but for reasons of the diagram the stations aren't as far away as they appear in the center and are farther away than they appear on the fringes.

For instance, the black line connects the city center of the largest city with the southern station (a branch to the city across the river and a southern city a little bit further away). The green line is the metro for two cities on the other side of a substantial river, and the light blue (aqua) line simply connects the two most important stations. The yellow line is a two-branch line for two large cities on the north of the map connected by rail to the main metropolis.

This is the Subway Map of my Game.

Its a Huge Metropolis, with alot of Suburban/Commuter Railways concecting to the city Center.
And the game have an anual ridership arround of 25.000.000 passengers.(in 2051)

You can found the savegame here(in spanish forum)

Or simply, download the Simutrans 102.0.0+ Pak128.japan +Addons (mostly japanese.simutrans.com)+Savegame, HERE:

Well my city isn't as big as the last poster's, but here's two cities of about 6 major ones. They're all connected by airports. Mallistead has the biggest subway; and this is just a rapid transit map; buses, trains ferries etc aren't included. Pineby's is bigger than it looks on this diagram. But even though the cities aren't a metropolis like the last poster's, they come out pretty cool! :) Hope you like.

This is phase 1 of NYC challenge, of 10 planned phases. One circle represents one city, number in the circle represents city code that is used for naming bus, trolley, tram, train and ferry lines. Red color represents tram system in the city, green - trolleys, dark orange - buses. Blue lines represents onground train routes, while metro will be black, but in next 3 phases I wont have metro...
On the appropriate side of circle, there is a name of the city and all lines that goes in and trough that city, which are distinguished by color as mentioned above.
Tram : XX-1AA
Trolley : XX-10BB
Bus : XX-CC
Train : DD-XXYY
XX-Code of the city (YY is code of the another city through which the vehicle passes, usually used only for Passenger trains and ferries.)
AA-number of the line, only counting tram lines.
BB- same as above, only for trolleys
CC - ^^ only for buses
DD - ^^ only for trains

Rectangular with the letter in it represents airport. It's letter B cuz it is second airport I connected, but I forgot to draw first one. :D
I hope this map is okay, so I can go on, need more opinions :D

Hi everyone

I've made my own diagram but from the whole rail system which is not as big as you think. You can reach every city (coverage is the whole city except in the HIG triangle) from your starting point without changing the actual line. In the HIG triangle there are 3 trams which are connecting the three mainstations in different ways.

Congratulations to all, nice work on the development of

Hi rsdworker

The Merkur-Xelofino-Design Set isn't a pak set at all. It is an addon-set in which all of our addons are in there which we have made together with Merkur. You must just take the paks and put them into the normal 64.pak set. If you dont want them anymore just search them and delete them. First try the save without any addon but i think it wont go.

The Red, Blue, Golden Lines go inside the city...
The Green Line stops in the Bus Hub and the National Train Station (inside Kobelran)
and it has 2 other stops in the small town of Ranfly.

The city of Kobelran has a population of 66150 and is the capital.
and the city of Ranfly is a small town with a coal mine... it has
a population of 3559 people.

I may update my Network Diagram later ;)
I have 3 more stops planed for the Blue line.

I have a city so big it would be impossible to diagram

Magpie

I created diagram that shows the passanger network system in my current game. Only the main intercity lines are drawn here. More information and download links are in this thread: http://forum.simutrans.com/index.php?topic=6135.new#new

prissi

Do you have a software for that?

Magpie

Special software is not needed for this, just some vector graphic editor. At least i don't know any special program for this.

Inkscape is a good (and open-source) vector graphic editor.

Prissi, I always missed a tool that was capable of exporting the mini map as a PNG file, so I could print it and sketch something upon it.

This reminds me of LA's metrolink
The overlapping lines look very similar

prissi

I mean there is this software:
http://blog.visualmotive.com/2009/automatic-generation-of-transit-maps/

Unfortunately it is written in an extremely obscure statistik data parser hand-optimized for a certain computer. Aparently nobody did this so far.

Lord Vetinari

This was a region of mine in Simcity4 that I remade (and developed further) in Simutrans.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

And this is the diagram of the lines that run from the souther terminal of the large central city:

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

The plan was to make diagrams for all the lines, but I got bored of that region since last spring and I never worked on it again. :P
I found the maps while I was cleaning my hard disk, so I thought I coul post them here even if they are unfinished.
