I'm not sure why you would consider it to be lost... I can find it all here
https://github.com/simutrans/pak128/tree/master/material/raven_railways/vehicles.AMTRAK

Thank you! I was unable to find those bits when pak128.USA was first proposed.

I suppose "all one has to do" is follow the Creating Paksets instructions on the wiki...

I found an awesome Amtrak Add on on a Japanese site, my fellow americans, check it out:

I have played with AI to generate some building. (Prompt "isometric pioneer shack/saloon/..." or "isometric gold rush ...") The scales and shadows vary, the tiles are never isometric (just off enough to need a lot of manual intervention) etc. Still in a very short time (about five hours), I got these buildings:
https://github.com/simutrans/pak128/blob/master/material/wildwest_AI/wildwest.png

I have also realigned the Ceres steam engine from pak128 to the correct length. So in principle, there is materiel to start an American game from 1870 on ...

I have not included the houses into the pak128, as they contrast a lot with the very simple houses from the early pak128. I would rather suggest taking all American stuff from the pakset, together with some links here in the thread and the raven pak USSET engines (the images have been extracted, but the data are missing and the diagonal length may be wrong).

Making a pak128.US is mainly a question of half a month of going through the material and adjusting building level etc. to have nice looking town and identify the gaps. Then, one could generate the missing images by AI and clean them up. And you got a pak128 US, with lots of trucks, and some railroad stuff too.

I have initialise a repo with pak128 stuff at https://github.com/prissi/pak128.USA

Still no proper house definitions, not correct US signals, roads, or roadsigns.

Wow, this would be awesome to have!

I am so very tempted to try and do this, but I know with my limited time and energy, it probably wouldn't work out.

I'm not sure how I could help someone working on this, but if I can be of help, I'd like to be.

I think you had some American roads. The pak128 roads are certainly wrong for anything with a middle lane.

I wonder if this can generate open-ttd style buildings for our pak.ttd, that would be great. ;D

prissi

pak.TTD can y\use any building from the many many open souce TTD paks. There is absolutely no need for this.

A first screenshot. Towns never grow on creation, only later. I have to investigate why.

Here is a "playable" version, if you do not mind ugly stations and a single engine until 1934, only passengers and no horse cart. (Those are in the pak128 sources, but I will not work much on it much for the next weeks, I think).
You can find a nightly here: https://github.com/prissi/pak128.USA
