A new version of Simutrans-Experimental is available to-day: Simutrans 102.3 Experimental 8.2. See here for more information on how to download, install and set up the latest version. For those already familiar with the installation and setup, here are some quick links:

Simutrans-Experimental 8.2 is a bugfix release, dealing with a number of issues reported in Simutrans-Experimental 8.1; thanks to all the Simutrans-Experimental beta testers for reporting issues. It does not incorporate many of the GUI changes from the latest versions of Simutrans-Standard, which are not yet fully stable, but does incorporate one of the more critical fixes from Simutrans-Standard. Here is a list of the changes:

Changes

  • FIX: factory_spacing setting did not work (Knightly)
  • CHANGE: The overall comfort of a convoy is now based on the number of seated passengers in each vehicle rather than just the number of vehicles.
  • FIX: Stations connected to multiple industries would sometimes consume products without passing them onto industries.
  • FIX: Restored the feature whereby cities are more likely to be built on low than high ground (unless "cities ignore height" is selected), which was obliterated when merging an improved city generation system from Standard.
  • FIX: Weight limits ignored when using platform choose signals.
  • ADD: Maps generation optimised for larger sized maps when the longest size of the map exceeds 768 tiles (adapted from an old patch by Vilvoh).

Feedback and testing

Thanks to all those who have tested Simutrans-Experimental and provided useful feedback. Any feedback from this version would, as ever, also be very much appreciated, including (1) bug reports; (2) information as to how well-balanced that the game is; (3) any difference in approach/strategy needed for Simutrans-Experimental as over Simutrans-Standard; and (4) any other useful feedback.

Thanks again to all those who have worked to test Simutrans-Experimental, and happy playing!
