A new version of Simutrans-Experimental is available to-day: Simutrans 110.0.1 Experimental 9.4. See here for more information on how to download, install and set up the latest version. For those already familiar with the installation and setup, here are some quick links:

Neither Makeobj nor the configuration files have changed for this release. Simutrans-Experimental 9.3 is a bugfix release, containing fixes for a number of reported problems, and includes all the latest fixes and enhancements from Standard.  Note that, because the Standard version number has incremented (from 110.0 to 110.0.1), games saved with Simutrans-Experimental 9.4 cannot be loaded in Simutrans-Experimental 9.3 or earlier, unless they are explicitly set to save in the earlier file format.

The outstanding issue of interfacing between Windows and Linux clients and servers in online play has not been addressed specifically in this version, but it is hoped to rectify this in a future version.

Here is a list of the changes:

Changes

  • FIX: Returning passengers would always use private cars.
  • FIX: Crash on deleting cities.
  • FIX: Possible crashes on deleting industries connected to substations
  • FIX: Miscellaneous crashes relating to substations.
  • FIX: Crashes in some cases after editing schedules
  • CHANGE: Smooth deceleration at stations and signals at differing rates depending on the type of vehicle
  • FIX: Weight limits enforced even when the enforcement of weight limits is disabled in simuconf.tab
  • FIX: Possible cast/overflow errors when calculating revenue.
  • FIX: The indicator showing when a vehicle cannot find a route because the way is too heavy has been restored.
  • FIX: Selected vehicles appeared twice in the depot window.

Feedback and testing

Thanks also to all those who have tested Simutrans-Experimental and provided useful feedback: it is very much appreciated. Any feedback from this version would, as ever, also be very much appreciated, including (1) online play; (2) general bug reports; (3) information as to how well-balanced that the game is; (4) any difference in approach/strategy needed for Simutrans-Experimental as over Simutrans-Standard; and (5) any other useful feedback.

Thanks again to all those who have worked to test Simutrans-Experimental, and happy playing!
