A new version of Simutrans-Experimental is available to-day: Simutrans 110.0.1 Experimental 9.7. See
here for more information on how to download, install and set up the latest version. For those already familiar with the installation and setup, here are some quick links:

Neither Makeobj nor the configuration files have not changed for this release. Simutrans-Experimental 9.7 is a bug fix release, which fixes a number of known issues in version 9.6. It also incorporates Bernd Gabriel's revised physics coding featuring a customised floating point class, which should be faster and more reliable than the fraction class used in 9.6. This version does not yet incorporate all of the latest changes from Standard, as those changes are complicated and far-reaching, but it is hoped to incorporate those changes into the next version.

Changes

  • CODE: Remove some superflous testing code
  • ADD: new float32e8_t. It is a floating point value class with math based on pure integer math. (Bernd Gabriel)
  • CHANGE: Replaced float and double with float32e8_t in net-sync critical code. (Bernd Gabriel)
  • FIX: de-float tiles_check_for_signal - trains decelerated before signals. (Bernd Gabriel)
  • CODE: De-floated comfort code.
  • FIX: Calculation of speed limits for overweight vehicles not properly de-floated.
  • FIX: Debit interest payments accounted for correctly in network mode.
  • FIX: Correctly account for refunds when passengers/goods arrive at an overcrowded interchange stop.
  • FIX: Refunds were not shown as a money type in the line management window.

Feedback and testing

Thanks also to all those who have tested Simutrans-Experimental and provided useful feedback: it is very much appreciated; thanks also to Bernd Gabriel for the improved floating point code. Any feedback from this version would, as ever, also be very much appreciated, including (1) online play (see here for a list of Simutrans-Experimental servers); (2) general bug reports; (3) information as to how well-balanced that the game is; (4) any difference in approach/strategy needed for Simutrans-Experimental as over Simutrans-Standard; and (5) any other useful feedback.

Thanks again to all those who have worked to test Simutrans-Experimental, and happy playing!
