I tried playing around with the feature, and this was the best I could come up with.

3 services running on the same track can be quite hard to manage. with 2 services, it's not so bad.
I tried not to expand the stations too much

I've been playing around with this myself and have approached things somewhat differently. I tend only to use the spacing feature at terminus stations, because using spacing at intermediate stations leads to trains unrealistically waiting for a long time at intermediate stations. However, some minimal spacing at intermediate stations can be useful to make slow trains wait for fast trains to pass. Turning off "use same spacing for all stops" allows for more precision here. But I don't find that I have to use this very much: almost everything needed for correct positioning can be done by setting the departure times from termini correctly. (Of course, this is much harder when local and express trains must run together for 300km, as on your map -- but on real maps few local lines will run for 300km.)

You're right that more than two services running on the same track for long distances is difficult to manage -- at least without well-placed passing loops (and even then...)

I normally use the same method of only setting spacing at the terminus, but any mixing of traffic at all seems to throw it off. So, I run all lines on their own dedicated tracks, however, that eats a lot of space, is not cheap and not very realistic. It is very smooth running on the plus side and I don't have to worry about one jam taking the entire network down.
