Here's a wierd one. The latest nightly r2197 loads 6 save games on start up. There's nothing in them other than the initial start screen which just shows a small portion of a map.

Screen shot to follow if needed.
I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it

Thought for the day

When you are up to your backside in alligators, it is difficult to remind yourself that your initial objective was to drain the swamp.

Download Simutrans-Extended.

There was a version which used savegames for some config storage, and now it is done with a xml file I think... so they can be deleted without problems.

Or are you saying you can not load games now?

My projects... Tools for messing with Simutrans graphics. Graphic archive - templates and some other stuff for painters. Development logs for most recent information on what is going on. And of course pak128!

No loading my games is ok, I just delete the 6 odd ones first, I suppose it's just annoying that they reappear every time I start the game.

Are those autosaved games? (6 of them means: saved every alternate month)

I had some similar effect, with very small autosaved games in r2195, where it also happened that the saved files (autosave and manual) were placed under simutrans-dir, not under the user-dir, but loading happened only from the user-dir. I am not sure what change (that I made thereafter) rectified the behaviour - maybe deleting default.sve, or just restarting ST helped.

(I have changed the topic's title so it gives more information.)

(...and I have changed all posts' titles)

Always, "Make topics with useful topic title" (Item 3, http://forum.simutrans.com/index.php?topic=56.0).

That's ok mate, it's your board.

They are 'generated' shall we say, when the game is started. they are all 6 the same, same time, same content. if I delete them then close the game, when I restart the game the 6 'save games are re-generated at that time. The content is a very small portion of the original start up screen showing a part of the landscape. The worst thing is, If I don't delete them, when I save my game say for instance my game is called PAK64-118, when I save this game it sits on top of the other games, 1st cab in the rank so to say, If I then close my game and restart it, I have 6 more save games on top of my PAK64-118 and the original 6 are underneath. So I have 6 foriegn save games on top of PAK64-118 and 6 more of the blessed things underneath. They are like a computer virus.

Hi Dwacks, about time you moved this ;D It hasn't been posted in since 2009. Maybe you should delete it altogether it's only wasting space on the server.

I took it that over the period of 2 years this bug simply has been starved out :D Nice to have you posting!

Hi Dwacks, I do come on the forum at times, not as much as I used to though. I find very little of interest, for me, on there. I download all the latest Nightly's and PAK files from Simutrans DE. and as long as the game is running well I don't need to post. There are enough knowledgeable members giving helpfull advice without me sticking in my twopenny worth. But, that said, I do browse through it occasionally, after all I've been a member of a Simutrans Forum since 1996, and I still play the game. I love to see all the new PAK's and the different vehicles, roads, tunnel, bridges, etc, etc. You Developers are such clever people. I've never been interested in programming since BASIC, but have always been into the repair of computers since my trade was Electronics Tech. (I started on Valve Radios) My son in law is an accomplished programmer, I've tried to get him interested in Simutrans but unfortunately he is far too busy. I think he is programming in, is it called Callis, or something similar. I must ask him when he returns from the other end of the country.
All the best, Colin
