First off: great work guys! It's always nice to see those version numbers heading up! This game is getting ever better!  :)

My problem is that in this new version, aeroplane take-off behaviour has changed:
Previously, planes took the whole runway to lift-off, now they seem to go after just one or two tiles, regardless of the runway length.
Seeing a A380 do a VSTOL looks bizarre!  ???

Is this is bug, or was it intended?

I can't think of any code change that may have influenced this ???

maybe your airport layout is somehow broken / unsupported? Can you upload a savegame?

For a moment, I thought it had cleared...

In this scenario, everything's OK.

But then, force the plane to take off on a different runway by removing the taxiway by the sign and it happens.

This is a pak64, with food chain addon installed but not loaded.

Found the cause. Here is a patch to cure it. Imho the error is in a part of the code that is from 2006  :o

The longer the distance from aircraft stop to takeoff position the earlier the aircraft will take off. In the example here, the new_friction of the airplane was  set to zero, which means that it accelerated from 30 km/h to 300 km/h on one tile ...

I fear that the patch will necessitate some additional balancing to ensure that airplanes take off after intended number of tiles.

Thanks!

What do I do with .diff files?

You would to fetch the code, apply the patch and then compile. The second option is to wait till this gets implemented and is available in a nightly version.

.. which is the case since some time.
