i played experiment 7.1 with britain pack - i set the route and i started the buses and suddenly the buses stopped at first bus stop and displaying No route - i checked the route is valid but i don't know what is problem with bus route - the cities was apart from each other - i wanted a long distance bus routes through alot villages

here save of the problem

http://files.[ simutrans [dot] us (site down, do not visit) ]/files/get/8W4x5msmPo/route-bug.sve

you can see the buses stuck there but no reason for that - normally they turn around at that stop

and also inside the depot there other line that i wanted to send to other village but its stuck there - in previous versions and normal version - they didn't cause stuck - they normally went to place where they supposed to stop

could you help me
thanks
if its bug could you move this thread to bug forum

if you restart simutrans and wait for some minutes will the bus keep pace again?

rainer

rsdworker,

I can't load your game. I get an error message "invalid coordinate halt".
Might it by possible that the stop has several levels and you deleted the exact station tile where you intend to let the busses stop? Or did you set a slope there?

With ST-exp 7.1 and Pak128.Britain-exp. V0.4, I was able to reproduce the mentioned problem with the given savegame. I could get the busses to move again by building a complete new road to their next stop. (It's not possible to replace the city road by building over it, which caused a little trouble for my tests).

The problem is most probably caused by the motorway between Inverness, Sheffield and Westminster. Maybe there is some invisible roadsign (one-way, minimum speed), or it may have been saved with invalid weight limits or ribis (although the city cars seem to like it), or some other bug specific to ST-experimental. Therefore, I move this topic to the board for the experimental branch.

@rainer: You need the experimental Pak128.Britain, loading with the standard one results in this error.

EDIT: If there is a weight limit problem, the busses may be able to pass the route empty, but fail to find a route if filled to some extent.

EDIT^2: OK, I found the reason: the "tarmac" road, that is in use here, has a weight limit of 15 tonnes, which does not allow busses of this size. I overlooked this, because it looks exactly the same as the motorway. The Pak set should provide different images.

whoami - thanks for figuring out

Whoami - thank you for finding the problem :-) Different images are planned for the roads - using the same images was always intended to be a temporary measure.

But why does the dirt road have a limit of 80t, whereas the better ones have 8t, 15t and 60t, respectively? Also, the program could show "weight limit <foo> tonnes" in the tooltips instead of just the value, which can be overlooked or misunderstood easily.

jamespetts

Whoami,

the dirt road has a high weight limit but a low speed limit, which is, from what I understand, more or less realistic for dirt roads. It is often too simplistic for roads either to be universally worse or universally better than other things: often some road types to be better for some things and worse for others.

As to the tooltip, the reason that it gives just the weight is that that is consistent with the way in which speed is displayed, and it would also be difficult to fit a longer string into the tooltip.

just bringing up this topic back in agenda - there other issue when buses go underground (tunnel) they can't reach the route due weight limit is 8t in tunnels

Actually, the weight limit shown in your screen-shot is 0 tonnes, not 8 tonnes, which is a remnant of a bug in makeobj which has since been fixed. Do you have the latest version of Pak128.Britain-Ex?

i have 0.3 so trying see if 0.4 fixes it

UPDATE:
tested the latest (0.4) - its still there - the tunnel is shown as 0t that's means i unable to run undergound bus network
its requires a fix soon as can

RSDWorker,

try starting a new game or rebuilding the tunnel - the weight limits of a way are saved with the saved game, and are not re-set when loaded.

yes i did try new game and its hasn't reset

jamespetts

With Pak128.Britain 0.4 starting a new game road tunnels have a weight limit of 0 tonnes?

correct

jamespetts

Hmm, I thought that I'd fixed that. The fix will have to be in the next version, then, I'm afraid. If you can use makeobj, you could always re-compile the ways yourself from the sources on Github.

no problem - but i think you need check all because i had other routing problem (trains now won't go underground now)

jamespetts

That's the same issue - it affected all tunnels.

woah - i think its needed a urgent patch to fix that issues with all other issues with weight - i think i prefer sooner as can
