Hi all,

I'm playing nightly version of simutrans 100.1-2076 with matching pak128.

I can't figure out how to build trams. I put a 'concrete_tram_track' network on my city roads and now I'm trying to build a tram remise on top of that but the game will not let me. It says that I can't put a remise there. So what can I do?

Greetings,

vilvoh

Have you electrified the whole tram track network, including the tram track where the tram depot is placed?

At first I didn't but I did afterwards but it didn't help.

Here is the screenshot of what I'm trying to do (just a test setup, this is not a realistic tram network). I tried to put the remise either at the end of the circuit but also at other spots. None works.

The remise, what I guess is the tram depot, must be at the end of a track of any type. You can't put a depot in the middle of a road, although the end of a tram track is located there.

Ok, I had tried that too. Here is a new screenshot showing how that doesn't work either:

Try to build depot on free place, not on a road, just like in the picture.

By the way, It is possible to build depot on a road? I thought Simutrans dont let you to do it :o

Ah thanks. That worked! I thought that the depot had to be on the road since I assumed the tram tracks had to be on the road as well. Normal bus depots you have to build on a road.

Simutrans don't let you do this in more recent versions to avoid trucks entering a tram depot and crashing the game ...

I have one further question. It seems that I can only make tram tracks that go up to 80km/h (even when electrified). However there are trams (like the T_110A) that can do 110km/h. How can I use these trams upto optimal speed?

Greetings,

The only way is to use railway track, where possible (etc. between city and harbour as you can see on the screen > http://img183.imageshack.us/my.php?image=tramis3.png)
You just have to connect tram and railway track and thats all. But remember - you cant build railway track on a road, also you wont propably use this very often...

I have seen concrete tram tracks, you know... ::)

why aren't trams affected by city traffic? All my trams just drive right thru city cars.

I'd assume this is done on purpose to give trams an advantage over buses. IIRC the trams are supposed to drive in the middle of the road, between the car traffic lanes.

If you need trams moving faster, you may download this tram way what allows trams to move by speed 90 km/h - but for ordinary city mass transit speed is not the most important because they (trams) hardly achieve their top speed.

So it is good to use them only to connect two close cities between each other - but only if you transport post. Else you need one extra-ordinary line for post-trucks.
